  • Golf 2.0 FSI Comfortline - Best Price ?

    hi guys,

    i am new here

i went to a vw dealer yesterday checked out comfort fsi 2.0. i m really amazed at wat a golf can do. i was kinda deciding btw accord euro and golf now.coz they are really closely priced, even they are of different classes. The dealer offered 35200 drive away for the fsi, a 2 month stock, where the euro offered me 35400 for the limited tourer.

can anyone who purchased a fsi tell me wat price did you pay, coz i would only like to pay 34000 for the fsi comfort, is it anyway possible??

    cheers

anything is possible mate! all you can try'n do is haggle!

might want to wait til later in the month too.. old wives tale about stealerhips more likely to move on price near the end of the month as opposed to the beginning...

      best of luck!

34 sounds a bit steep... i hope that includes auto? (remember the auto trans takes away tonnes of its power) the 1.4tsi gt is only rrp of 34500 i think? so i reckon you could get it for only slightly above what you got quoted for the fsi... something to think about... enjoy the forum just make radical demands and always have them thinking you might walk out the door. bob at chatswood vw is a good guy.

          thanks a lot guys...

i wil probably go for a tsi, if it is within my budget, although my budget has already been stretched a looooot...

bottom line is ,this time, i wil only go for a car that i like very much and wit a reasonable re-sale value, coz i might leave aus in couple of years time...

and i am still concerning abt the price for 2.0 fsi comfort...

          anyone, plz?

I got to drive my bosses mk5 comfortline 1.6 and it definately needed a bit more oomph. That said they are still a great car and i was surprised at all the features it had even for the base model. No matter what you decide the mk5 is the choice. Dont forget to think about the TDI too

list the specs of the car you are after and im sure you'll find people who have bought a similar car and who will be able to give you a more solid answer on price (ie auto or manual or esp or metallic paint or leather or sunroof etc etc)

                yep,

i am just after the 2.0 fsi comfort line wit all da std equipments/ auto(tiptronic), the color preferable would be black metalic. The price i am seeking is the price on road. I think the margin of golf would be much less than the margin on euro( Coz the qoute on road for euro is even cheaper than its rrp.) But i guess 34000 would allow a reasonable profit for the dealer coz the list price for 2.0 fsi comf. is 32290.

thanks again for your concern guys

                    Warm and fuzzy

Try buying on line … as I said in an earlier post I saved over 3K and got extras ( eg 12mths rego not 6) they said they will deliver with a full tank of fuel to my door… I have had the local fleet dealer contact me and informed me he won the tender so I’m sure its all above board, the just order in bulk. I will justify my comments by saying that I haven’t received my car yet but I still have a warm and fuzzy about it..
                    Cheers,
                    Brad

When I got my 1.9 TDI Comfortline (Manual, sunroof and metallic paint) last year, I paid just under what the RRP on the VW website was so effictivley I paid no delivery fees.

Shop around a bit. You should be able to get a fair bit cheaper.

thx a lot...but did u buy your car during the annual sales?

coz one of the sales consultants told me that vw sometime does have an annual sales promotion, like u can buy a vehicle for just its rrp. but u also have ur sunroof installed. Gee...i gonna say u r really lucky to get that kinda deal.

i've been thinking paying just rrp to drive the fsi away coz honda euro offers me...[2000 grand below rrp]

i wil go to chatswood stealer this weekend...
try to work out a deal!

Nope.. No sales at the time. Just called every dealer in the state (not including the one that I actually was going to buy the car from), told them exactly what I was after and that I didn't want to be stuffed around. I gave them my number and asked that they call me back ASAP with the best possible price they can offer.

When I got these prices (between $4-5k over RRP) I told them that it was not good though and to call me back when they got it lower as I was buying by the end of the week (this was a Wednesday). At this point a couple dropped out but the keen ones stayed on.

The next lot of calls were about $1-2K over RRP so it was time to play the "If you can get it lower I am willing to sign today" game. This got rid of all but 2 dealers. At this point the best offer made was $450 over RRP with mats, tank of fuel and the 7500km service included. I knew this was good so I asked them If it was ok if I called them back in 30 minutes while i "ran some numbers".

I jumped on the phone to the dealer that I wanted to buy the car from and told them what I wanted and the deal I had been offered elsewhere (rounded the price down by another $500) and told them that I really wanted to buy the car from them as they are my closest dealer and I have always got my cars from them (I have one serviced there).. blah blah blah, but I needed to know today if they could do it as I was going to the other dealer in 2 hours if they couldn't.

20 minutes later I got a call saying they could do it but there was only one in the country and it was a MY06 that was 7 months old (which i knew). I said that I was happy for a MY07 to be built and shipped over (which the other dealers knew also) and they said ok. I called the other dealers back and told them the bad news. They weren't happy but it was below both their final offers and I told them that.

The next day I went and placed the order at the dealer I had only bothered once for a rather good price.

I know some people may not agree with this but it saved me over $5000 and took no longer than a rainy afternoon.

It also helped that I dealt directly with the sales managers as there was none of the usual salesman crap of "oh, I will have to check with my manager". If you deal with the manager, 9 times of 10 they know you are serious and don't want to waste time.

I once knew a guy who did the same thing when he brought his cars ($200-300k BMWs) but he sent faxes and only gave the dealer one chance to offer a price. That got some good results also.

now i would be confident to haggle wit the stealers for a rrp to drive away my fsi!!!

                            thx again!

                              Thanks for posting this

                              Thanks.

I'm looking for a Comfortline TDI DSG that's new or demo <20k kms

So far a dealer has chopped $2500 off their calculated retail ($41k with a sunroof) of a new one (Pacific or Comfortline - my choice) without any haggling, so there's room there.

I looked at a 07/07 reg one with 54000km on it (HOW do you do that?) at a dealer. They had $30k on it - I talked them down to $25k with my crappy '94 Calais as a trade and new tyres & the 60k service ($1100+) thrown in. My counter-offer to that would be $23k & I'll do tyres & service. That might be a bit hard but my wife would undercut that! Be merciless and be prepared to walk away! They keep phoning me so they must be desperate to sell it. Mechanical inspection is a must with this one

The K's bother me - & the Ultratune entry in the log book and it was muddy underneath (but no stone chips). It drove well, though and was not grey (bonus!)

I may still consider it but I'm looking at one with all the fruit this arvo so I think I may treat myself. More $$ though but only 12k km.

I'm in no rush and the end of the financial year is looming so I may hold out for a bit.

                              Any suggestions?
