Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It's not just a bottle opener, it slides into the centre storage area (in front of the arm rest) then u can safely store two cans or bottles inside. And looks great too!!

I've gone to the car in the garage (Car Hole) to use mine on many occasions. Lots of imported beers (and Aussie ones too) don't have screw tops.

The bottle opener often gets knocked off during delivery, but they are supposed to come with the GTI. Tell the dealer you want yours.

The "red light" looks more like a reflector to me, and mine doesn't light up either.

Yeah, the instructions on the trip computer are crap. Took me 2 weeks before I realised there were 2 trip computers built in.
              Here's how it works.

Use the up/down arrows to scroll through all of the options.

To switch between trip 1 and trip 2 press the OK button briefly.

Two trip computers showing two different diesel consumption.
What is a reason behind it?

one resets itself after a couple hours and one doesnt. ie one is a trip calculator and the other is the overall usage. obviously the #2 one gives you a better reading of your general consumption but if you want consumption for a specific trip then you use #1

Always keeping mine on the specific trip calculator, gives me good consistent data, and I can keep an eye out for peculiarities.

No, it's an 07 GT, one of the 420 they did as a 'trial'. It came with the high line MFD.

The 08 GT Sport (due October shipment) supposedly will have identical equipment to my model. Changes are charcoal centre bumper, no GT badge on the steering wheel (like the new GTIs) and the GT Sport badgework. The 08 will also feature the GT diesel alongside the GT TSI. It also spells the end for the Sportline 2.0 litre petrol & diesels (R.I.P.).
Equipment is basically GTI, minus alarm, 6 stacker, mats!, and that beautiful wheel. Loses temp gauge, gains boost gauge (TSI only). Seats aren't as bolstered. Gets a W button, misses out on the tyre monitor (rats). The rest you probably know.

It's a nice gap filler between the 2litre petrols and the GTI. Goes well, too.

i reckon the gt diesel will give you a run for your money... they dont drop the clutch when quoting performance figures do they?

didnt know the gt comes with the mfd, cool stuff
