Is there a difference in windscreen fitted by VW dealer and one of windscreen repair shops
Price is one thing , but I mean difference in quality?

I have heard stories of the fit not being right on the aftermarket ones. But I can't say for myself. My insurer was happy to replace mine with a genuine screen so I didn't look into it all that much.

The replacement non-genuine windscreen (Australian Autoglass) in our Alfa doesn't fit, and has some annoying optical faults which distort vision. The OEM screen was a perfect fit and had no optical faults... Can't comment on VW non-genuine windscreens, but next time I need a windscreen I'm insisting on OEM.

I got a tiny chip on my windscreen a week and a half ago travelling on the M4. It is literally a couple of mm long and looks more like a chip mark (like u get on the paint) than a crack.

Just wanted some advice - can this get worse than it currently is? Should I get it fixed ASAP or wait and see if it starts spreading?

          Cheers

NickZ don't know about such a small chip but generally the repair places tell you to get it repaired as soon as possible. This makes sure it doesn't spread (there's a limit to how big they can repair) and also they say they can do a better job if they get it before any dirt gets into the crack.
