08 R32 - If I ordered tomorrow?

Hi.

If I ordered an R32 three door tomorrow, would I get the 08 or 07 version? Or is it dependent on the dealer?

Additionally, VW have a RRP list on their website. This is plainly not driveaway, so what are people paying for their R32's?

I went to a VW dealer last week and enquired about a Jetta.
They would sell me an 08 but it wouldn't arrive until December. I assume the same would go with the R32

'All the Jetta/Golf models you order now will be MY08' confirmed by the dealer (blame the dealer if it's wrong )

Apparently the MY08 R32 are coming a little bit before the bulk of the MY08 Jettas. Not sure why though.

Best thing to do is pop into a dealer and they'd be happy to quote u a delivery time... which btw can be rubbery at times after reading some of the posts on the forum.

Welcome to VWwA prankmonkey

I believe the dealer should offer you the MY08 but if you can leave without whatever extras are in MY08 you may be able to haggle on a MY07 better.

Also if your ordering to what you want (specs/options) it will (should) be a MY08

Thanks for the replies. I'm in Canberra but am willing to travel to I guess Sydney to secure a good deal. Are Lennock (Canberra VW) good to deal with? I guess it depends on the salesman you see.

I think any R32 made after July is an 08. I ordered mine at the start of June, and I've just received an email from the dealer telling me that the car has been made and is awaiting shipping, so it's possibly ahead of schedule. What's the shipping time from Germany to Oz?

jb747: it's not so much the shipping time to Oz that's the problem, it's VAG Aust. Thery seen to deliver whenever they feel like it. I had to threaten my dealer to get my car all of 300k's from where it had sat for nearly 3 weeks. Walked in to cancel the order and funnily enough it arrived that afternoon!!!

I would suggest you keep on top of the order tracking system and pressure your dealer & VAG Oz to deliver your car ASAP....you might be surprised how much quicker it gets here.

By the way, you'll love it when it gets here....can't speak highly enough of mine

I've got the VIN from the dealer now, and I see that it's well on its way. Been a bit of a tourist too, as the ship went from Germany to Belgium, then France, the UK, and South Africa. Picking up a collection of cars I guess. Anyway, ETA at Melbourne is the 11th of October.

Lennock are very, very good. I would advise against driving to Sydney to buy the car. Go and see Peter Munday, he is a good personal friend of mine and also sold me my '08 Candy white, 3 door, DSG, leather, sunroof and Bi zenons GTi.

Hi Guys (Howdi from a first time poster and long time reader)

Ordered by MY08 R32 in August this year (the wait is KILLING me)

The original poster asked for the deals that people were getting so here is mine.

For some reason if my work signed a waiver saying that I will use my car for work (which i will do for 0.0005% of it's ownership) I qualified for the fleet price. (I know...super lucky - but am taking a HUGE hit on the SAAB i am trying to sell atm so am thankful for the cheaper price!) Lesson learnt - NEVER buy SAAB!

Purchased from Essendon Volkswagen. (Have heard horror stories with South Yarra Volkswagen - from mates who have bought from there).

Almost purchased from Barloworld if the salesman didn't screw me around so much. Had a test drive booked for a saturday, called him the friday before asking if the car was definitely there etc. Then rock up for the test drive and he tells me it was sold during the week and for me to just drive the GTI as they drive similarly!?!?!???? wtf?

Can you elaborate on what you need to track your vehicle. I still haven't received word on the exact delivery date for mine and likewise this wait is killing me.
