speed displayed digitally in dash?

hi guys, this may sound like a silly question but im looking at purchasing a mkv gti dsg in a few months time. I have yet to take a mkv for a test drive but one thing i have noticed re the mkv is that the analogue speedo display seems like its very small numbers which i reckon would be a nuisance when you are trying to work out how fast you're going on the road.

im currently driving a ve holden ss ute and one of the things i love about it is that it displays the vehicle speed also as a digital display in large numbers in the centre of the dash (the analogue speedo is also in very small numbers).

does the mkv have this feature? can anyone please advise? thanks

You can make the air con temp give a digital speed reading (not worth the effort thought) by sadly the MFD won't do it.

If you're in a financial position to get a MK6 and you like the MK6, it has this feature though.

The kufatec bluetooth I had installed came with a extra menu on the MFD which displays the speed (among other things), but sadly its probably the same size (if not smaller) as the analogue speedo.

ok guys thanks for your help, so MKV Golf DOES NOT have digital speedo display in the MFA unless it has the kufatec bluetooth?

Is the kufatec bluetooth device an aftermarket install or a dealer fitted only option?

Also anyone now if the new polo gti has the digital speedo feature in the MFA? (thought Id ask)

Jesus how bad is your eyesight that you think you won't be able to see the speed you're doing? I didn't think the numbers on the Mk5 were that small? You're more than welcome to buy my wife's Honda Civic - no chance of being unable to see the speed on that thing -

Forgive me if I am wrong, I have a Mk V Jetta (2010) and it does indeed have a substantial digital speed display that displays numbers about 12mm in height that is selectable in the MFD options. I thought that the Mk V Golf and Jetta used the same electrics, apologies if I am mistaken.

the mkv dials looked kind of small hence the question re the digital display. i'd obviosuly like to have some fun in the gti and i find with my ss ute its easier to set the display to digital speedo so you can easily stay within the speed limits. WHile i realise this is a vw forum I've attached a pic of the digital speedo in the ss ute and have to give credit to holden for this feature.

The Kufatec is aftermarket and you can get it without the bluetooth. We have the bluetooth version but I only plugged in the adaptor (without fitting the mic) and it worked straight up. The good thing is that it shows oil temperature and the speed is the real vehicle speed, not the speedo speed with inbuilt error.

I guess you have a white MFD. Golf V's have a red MFD.

The MFD options on my MkV Jetta allows me to set speed warning which i promptly turned off as ii was so annoying. The speedo on the Jetta is huge by comparision to the one on my previous 01 Bora 4-Motion which was really really hard to read!

I guess you have a white MFD. Golf V's have a red MFD.

Around the time the Mark 6 Golfs were released the Jetta had an upgrade of instruments (and other parts behind the dash) like in the Mark 6 Golfs.

Not that any of them are calibrated to be accurate.

Try either getting someone you know with a radar or laser device (Police perhaps?) or use a GPS device to ascertain an accurate speed of your vehicle.

I know that the actual speed on both of my VW's is actually 4 and 5 km/h slower at 100km/h and slightly more at 110km/h.

i found a speedo in the set up menue under CAM in the RNS 510 i dont know if its a true gps reading or not any one ealse tried it ?
