Thanks turboveedub, but I think I still want a clear coat for my new Jetta. I have three kids, 2 dogs and a spouse, both of us with full-on jobs....

There just isn't time to wax all the time! So with no-carport or garage either (living in a heritage zone has its draw backs...) I need something to protect the car from bird-s..t

Also waiting on an MY08 Jett TFSi

        Hi All,
this is my first posting on this forum. I also placed an order for a TFSi Jetta MY08 Plates in September. I asked for the Black Pearl, Beige Leather, Sat Nav and Sunroof. Dealer told me this was going to be a forward order and would be delivered late December. LOng wait but I hope its worth it.

To all those driving Jettas, would be interested in reading about your experiences.

        Regards

        Thomas.

          Nice choice Thomas!
Yeah the wait is the worst. Lucky I didn't have to wait as long as some of the other people.
Black Pearl.... reminds me of pirates of the Caribbean funny film.

What made u choose the Jetta?

Hey guys! On Monday I ordered my my08 jetta and they said it should be ready by Friday or Monday!!

I got deep black, fog lights, beige leather and tinting...I managed to get them to throw in the fog lights, the tinting and some of the leather...

I can't stop thinking about the new car...I looks like lots of people here got the deep black so i'm very very excited to see what itll look like in my driveway...The wait is really hard though

Thanks George, I see from your signature block, you have a tow bar on your Jetta. How does the car handle under load? are you just pulling a garden trailer or you got something heavier?

Does anyone know where you can get a decent body kit for the Jetta? VW don't seem to sell any of these accessories.

                Cheers

Is the towbar an optional extra?? I'm certainly hoping my new one comes with one

                    Hi Thomas,

I've only ever used it to tow the box trailer and never with much weight in it. Also have a 14' catamaran that I used tow around but since the first time I took the missus on it and we flipped it she doesn't encourage me to use the damn thing so it's never been behind the Jetta yet!

I've done a fair bit of towing over the years and think FWD cars are quite limited in their ability to tow heavier weights.......just my own personal opinion there.

                    Cheers

                      It's finally arrived

                      The Jetta has finally arrived!

And may I say it's been absolutely fanastic so far. I've only done 250kms in it so far cos I haven't really had any long journeys to travel in the past few days but the performance is great.

I admit since it's a new car I haven't taken the engine above 3000rpms too often... but sometimes when I am a bit over enthusiastic when speeding off the line it does go over a bit.

One thing about the DSG box I've noticed is that the shifts aren't actually all that.... smooth.... initially, but it is getting better. Is that a case of the DSG adjusting to my driving patterns or me adjusting to the way the DSG shifts or a bit of both? I'm noticing moment of hesitation especially shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear.

Apart from that everything else about the car is great. No squeaks, everything is solid. I got bridgestones on the charlestons and I must say tyre noise isn't that much of an issue for me. If there is any it's easily covered by the audio system (barely at 20% maximum volume mind you)

The ride quality is quite good, soaks up most road inconsistencies better than I'd expected and handling is precise and predictable, I haven't thrashed it though, waiting for a few thousand gentle kms under the belt before I even consider testing it's limits.

The leather seats are amazingly supportive, took a couple of days to adjust to them, but now that I have it feels like home haha

So was it worth the wait... definately!!!
Was it worth what I paid... definately!!!
Would I recommend a Jetta.. aww yeah!!!

Pics will be a bit later cos it's been pretty dodgy weather past couple of days and the car's gotten dust spots all over it, I'll wash it off and then take a few shots.

Oh yeah, btw, when I have dust spots on a newly waxed car, how do I get rid of them? do i really have to wash and wax again?

                        Hey turbo.
Great you are enjoying the car.

I seem to have the opposite to what you have been experiencing.

Found the DSG absolutely silky smooth .
Think the noise from the tyres loud.
and still after three weeks and 500km in all the rain still don't need to wash
the car, maybe that has something to do with it being graphite blue.
However can definitely agree the car is great.
