Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Quote a pic of this Classixs along with a suggested 18" alternative. I think they will mostly be BBS or knockoff variations, but there are also some Audi OEM options, like the TT wheels, which might be good, but the offset will probably be too much. Ideally you'd want an offset in the 40s, not the 30s.

    VW Classixs:

    BBS LM (replica):

    BBS CH:

BBS RC (old style, probably unavailable new but probably available used):

BBS RX (not sure if it's available in 18s):
Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

Maca has the black Jett TFSI with BBS 18s so that's a starting point - then head over to the TireRack.com site to try on some other BBS wheels onto their Jetta image.

Check out the Enkei Racing wheels while you're at it. They are very light and very good!
Tirerack is awesome! Anybody know how much shipping is to australia for 4 wheels?

Do you guys find any trouble with insurance companies when changing wheels/suspensions?

Experience from friends is that (a) you need to ask them for a quote and (b) its often cheaper to buy some tyres at the same time, as then they don't have to box and specially freight the rims, as they're already mounted to tyres which can be strapped to a pallet easily.

Oh hell yes. Mine is black on black with Charlestons:

I also think it is quite telling that Volkswagen chose Charlestons as the media launch wheel (and 18 inch option) for the Mk6 Jetta GLI 2.0T and the new Golf Cabrio.

Charlestons are great but can't find nice replicas of them. Contemplating between these few from tempetyres. What you guys think? I've got a wheat beige 06 Jetta. Need to change my front shocks soon so may just end up getting coiovers/oem shocks with lowering springs as only wanna go 1-2 inches max.

Have you looked at Tempe Tyres? They have a few replica VW wheels ( including some R32 wheels ) and can do a fantastic deal for wheels/tyres + delivery anywhere in Australia. I know some people complain about them but I've bought from them twice and they have been fantastic. I got some 18" Detroit replica's from them with some really good Falken tyres delivered to Adelaide for about $1300. Not sure what Detriots on a Jetta would look like but having had the factory Classixs on my GT before and the Detroits now I'll never look back - the detroits are so easy to clean compared to the classix and its still in keeping with the OEM VW look.

                          Hi pradz,
Where did you get all of these OEM wheels?

I am interested in a swap of some Enkei Racing 18x8 5x112 wheels if you are very keen to do a swap. I can send pics of these wheels.

Anyway back to MkV wheels. Does anyone have a set of Charlestons that they are sick of and want to swap for lightweight Enkei Racing 18s?
                          Anyone near Sydney?

Looking at Passats love the look of the 18" R36 wheels.. wonder how they would go on a Jetta? With wheels the more spokes = the more work to clean!

A classic look like the BBS CH or similar look fantastic on the Jetta's IMO, the VMR V710's are awesome as well.
