Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Weird glass issue

What do you guys think of this? It's taken from the edge of my front windscreen but can be seen around the whole screen

It is delamination of the plastic layer from the glass layers in your safety glass.
You should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

I've got that on mine too, but mine has already been replaced - It's not genuine... How old is yours?

My car is an 06 model so doesn't look like warranty replacement is possible. How much did it cost ya nutttr?

I suggest you at least try talking to one of the dealers. They may replace it for you since it is a manufacturing defect regardless of the fact that your car is out of warranty. You have nothing to lose.

          Speak with Highway VW.

I'd try warranty, but it doesn't affect the glass unless it starts seriously delaminating. I've got a few chips turned cracks in my current one too. I got a quote for a new one (I have the rain sensor - Not sure if they all do?) but it was $350 from memory including fitting. I didn't go for it, but i've got the 'free glass replacement' option ticked on my insurance so when it does actually break it'll be replaced for free! (I suggest ticking that option!)
