I see plenty of xenons out there every day/night (well, almost) and they never bother me. I know Benz and BMW have auto-adjustment on their xenons which helps, I guess. Having driven with xenons for 10 years now, I'll never go back. They make a huge difference in country driving particularly.
I recall reading in the BMW Magazine that as you age you need better lighting, which might explain the increased takeup of xenons despite their considerable cost. At my advanced years, I need all the lighting I can get.
