I have got 86K on my origonal Conti CSC2's. Most of my driving is to and from work down the expressway at 80 to 100k, with occasional mountain fang. Been checking out the local vendors in ACT and some have no idea.
Prices vary dramatically and they always have to order in any of the tyres I am interested in.
    Goodyear F1 assymetrics or Conti CSC3's. Conti's quoted about $370 to $410. F1's from $420 to $550.
Anybody with experience in those. Are the F1's worth the extra $50 bucks each.

In my opinion yes- but time will tell. Contis i just never felt were that good for Aus conditions, some noise, got i think about 40 odd k out of them.I reckon the good years better, but hard to compare new with old i guess too!
Current:12 Golf GTD, Mods on order -Bluefin Remap, Mods planned-plenty
Former:08 GT Sport TDI DSG Bluefin, HPA SHS Coilovers,H&R Swaybars with Whiteline Adj Links

Have a look at this thread, there's a Skoda owner who has posted a review on the PS3s.

          Bought the Michelin PS3's

It all came down to price, plus the tyre comparison site in the UK had a lot of good things to say about the PS3's.
$260 each for the Michelin PS3's against $420 for the Eagle F1 Asymmetric and $370 for the Continental Sport Contact 3.
Plus the PS3's are supposed to be great in the wet. Now we will definately have a drought.

Just wondering if anyone has come across the Dunlop Maxx TT's before? Still a reasonably new tyre to the market, but Motor magazine rated them very highly in their annual tyre test a couple of months ago due to their great value for money.

            Any experience/thoughts?

A somewhat underrated tyre (not to be confused with the superseded Sport Maxx) they perform as well as, or often better than the other top brands in the dry/wet, but they don't seem to generate the same level of noise on internet forums, so often overlooked.

Distinguished by their "communicativeness" and excellent steering feel, which seems to be common praise from road testers.

If you get them for a decent price locally, they would indeed be good value.

Diesel_vert, is there a reason why you said "if you can get it locally"? Are you suggesting not to buy from Tirerack? Even with postage and fitting it still works out being 1/3rd cheaper on average. I'd love PS3's but the cheapest I've seen them here in SA is $280. That's not at all competitive. Interested in your thoughts

I was of the impression that local prices for the SPTT were such that buying overseas didn't net you significant savings (see here). Personally, I wouldn't buy overseas if the difference was less than 10% to 15%, but then again prices may differ from state to state.

But if you can save 33% by purchasing overseas, then by all means.

I've been given a price of $200 per tyre for Pirelli P Zero Nero's (225/45 17's) brand new & fitted!

                          Seems really good to me!

on Saturday 2x Pirelli pzero rosso fitted to front, ($290each, Payless Chatswood)
older 20k km front Pirrelli pzero rossos, that i'd been very happy with, good wear, traction, though perhaps a little noisy, rotated to the rear.

6.5km later and the near-side front rosso is flat. turns out tyre is sliced/slashed. no scuff marks on the tyre, didn't hit anything, still new as...

was it like that when i picked them up, or did it happen in the 6kms?
                            guess, I'll never know.

Take it back could of been a fault with the tyre , if there's no visible signs of damage I'd be jumping up and down demanding a new tyre.
