Hi all,
I’ve looked around on this forum quite a few times over the past few weeks and have found it interesting and informative so I bit the bullet and signed up and thought I should say hi.
I’ve been a proud Jetta owner since September last year and absolutely love the car …… what a great drive it is! Mine is Reflex Silver, TFSI, DSG, Anthracite Leather, Sunroof, Tint, Towbar, standard 17” Alloys and for better or worse Paint and Interior Protection Package.
I was looking for something different to what I had driven for years, my previous four cars having been Falcons the last one a BA XR6 that was a good drive but my kids had grown up and I wanted something smaller yet still with some grunt. I had nearly given up and was going for a Honda Accord Euro Luxury when a last minute scan on Carpoint of all new cars in the price bracket revealed the Jetta and it took one test drive of two cars to come to the conclusion that the only decision I had to make was TFSI or TDI.
There were many times after I placed my order that I didn’t think I was ever going to actually get the car and I’ve noticed this seems to be a common theme. Two months after placing my order (having compromised on one of my preferred options because there was a vehicle on a vessel closely fitting my specs) I was informed a week before delivery was due that the car hadn’t even left the factory causing great angst as the car I was then driving was on an operating lease which was about to expire. I never did find out what happened to the vehicle on the vessel that was allocated to me and that was the beginning of a never ending series of dramas and problems that I could write a book about!
It was however worth the wait, the car is a joy to drive, not perfect but has so much going for it, smooth, powerful, classy, no matter what the situation there is always power on tap, put the boot down and she just takes off and of course very economical when driven with a modicum of common sense. I think the combination of the engine and the DSG box could be described as a perfect match even though the DSG occasionally seems to get caught in two minds when coming down into second.
Reading the various threads it is clear that there are many members that are just as passionate about their cars as am I and I can feel a great sense of camaraderie between the members of this forum. I have learnt quite a bit about both my car and VWs in general since finding this site, I hope I can continue to learn, contribute something to this forum and make some friends along the way.
Cheers
George
PS hope this into isn’t too long and boring!
