It's just such a competent car. It's like it thinks of everything and has an answer for everything! Oh ... you need to get into that space in traffic, sure here's ooodles of torque on tap and a fast changing gearbox to get you there. Oh ... your favourite song is on the radio ... let me treat your ears with this great sound system. Oh ... you've driven into a tunnel, let me turn on the lights for you. LOVE IT
True, you sound like a carbon copy of me! You hit the nail on the head, I couldn't describe it any better. And whilst it is quick, you don't have to flog it to be quick it is just effortless.
I've always been enthusiastic about my cars but never been smitten like I am now!

Sounds like you won the lottery, I haven't come across anybody who has bought a VW with immediate delivery!
Interesting, those 3 cars are the exact same cars I looked at before I discovered the Jetta. I was impressed by all of them but once having driven the Jetta I lost all interest in the others immediately!
Cheers
George
I guess I was just lucky. I was in the right place at the right time when I made my decision to purchase. The final decision was between the Honda Accord Euro and the Jetta and, of course, the Jetta won in the end.
I'm loving every minute I drive this car although I had an issue with it using oil (posted in a separate thread).
Also today, I noticed that the right rear door was misaligned with the right front door. My initial thought was that the car was broken into as the door was loose and moving a bit. After further check, I realised that the screw holding the door (the upper one at the inside of the door) was missing. I was lucky that the dealer agreed to have it fixed at a very short notice. It's back to the condition it should be in but I was just very surprised that something like this can happen. It has never happened to the vehicles I previously or currently owned.

A coincidence that you had a problem with the R/H/R door, I just found a problem with mine where the door skin on the R/H/R door is loose. The door skins are removable and are held on by a series of screws. In my case the top screw on the leading edge of the door is missing. Now I'm doing battle with the service department at the dealer because the person I spoke to who had great difficulty differentiating between a door trim and a door skin refused to order the screw in before I drop the car in for them to fix it. I was seeking to avoid the inconvenience of dropping the car off then having to go back to pick it up later for a job that would take about one minute to carry out.
Cheers

I'm also a new Jetta owner as of 2 days ago (black TFSI with sunroof). The car was delivered ahead of schedule within 4 weeks of ordering it. I guess I was lucky!
Just like George I thought I'd share my experience because I'm absolutely thrilled with the car, and have found this forum very useful in making my decsion. My previous car was a 2000 model WRX and I was looking to get a family car but not compromising too much on the grunt. VW couldn't have made a more perfect car, and my wife and I only came across it when I was having a look at the Golf GTI. My wife only drives auto, so the DSG was a good compromise in my opinion. Not the same feel as a manual, but similar control.
The other similar (Mazda 6 and Honda Accord) just don't match up when it comes to overall class, value, performance and quality build.
I must say, I never thought I would own a VW. But i'm impressed.
That's right...I'll be heading to the Snowy Mountains shortly too!
Its all positive, except I just read about the MFD. I wasn't able to access it either as shown in the manual. I'd really like the dipping mirror when reversing.
Just like to add my own cheerio as a newbie. I must also say it's great to see some of the..........ahhh......dare I say "older" members like George on here, proving that enthusiasts come in all ages.
I count myself among the lucky ones as far as delivery goes. From the time of ordering to delivery was 8 days from memory. The Union Shopper bloke mentioned that there is a fair waiting list for GTi's and some others, depending on specification. A cousin of mine had to wait 2 months for a Golf Comfortline FSI.
A new Golf Comfortline 2.0 TDI manual has done the trick for me, I am absolutely stunned at the torque - and that's coming from a 3.5 Magna with extractors, ported & polished heads & UNICHIP. The old man's nodding in a "I told you so" kind of way.....been trying to nag me into a diesel for years. From delivery on 5th April till today, just over 11,500 km.
