Fed up with waiting for new Polo GTI, considering 08 or 09 Golf GTI

Just goes to show how good VW's marketing and pricing strategy has been. If waiting times have increased from launch then they must be taking more orders than they can fill in a short time. Which also means that discounts will be far and few between.

Either that or just poor supply planning at vw's end. It seems they always have this issue (tiguan, mk5 gti etc). Personally I couldnt wait 6+ months for a new car, rather just either go second hand or another make.

OK, I'm a big fan of the twin-charged TSI motor, and the thought of that engine with 10 more kW and a couple of hundred less kilos is a darned tempting thing. I'm sure that the Polo GTI's going to be a great car and well worth considering, and for well under you budget you'd be getting a fully loaded Polo - trust VWA to cock up the supply of these cars!

With that in mind, a 2nd hand Golf GTI would be very tempting. The Polo would probably have at least similar performance as the standard Mk5 GTI, but you'd be getting a whole lot more iron for your dollar with the Golf.

Keep your eyes peeled, as there's a few very tidy Mk5s starting to emerge. There's a nice Pirelli that the guy will take offers on here:

the expectation when we ordered the car, was that it would be in OZ first week of November (with a expected likelihood that it would be here late October). Latest non-information is that it has not yet left South Africa, they believe it will be available for mid-December delivery, but have provided an "oh sh*t" comment in the latest email that gives me the idea that January is even more realistic.

I even tried to make an offer on their yet to be delivered Polo GTI. Seems I am not the only Polo purchaser to have done this. Answer was "No...not for sale...at this time".

I believe my weekly phone calls are starting to irritate the sales team. Almost time to play the "well, what are you going to provide me with, in order that I will sit patiently waiting for your call of "It's here!!!" ????"
