  • Help! Different load rated tyre replacement

Punctured a tyre and needed to get it replaced.

Had Bridgestone Potenza RE001 225/45 R17 94W fitted to all 4 wheels previously...

They are no longer available in the 94 load rating and I've had the same Bridgestone RE001 225/45 R17 but in 91W fitted (so 1 different tyre only)...

    Will this cause any problems?

As far as I can tell, the load difference means a slightly less stiff sidewall, but is it dangerous or should I be able to tell the difference.

    Help much appreciated!

    Cheers

Your insurance may not be valid if you are running under standard load rating and an accident occurs due to tyre failure.

Other than that i don't see a problem.

The OEM Conti's were originally 91W rated- so I believe I should be ok...

I HAVE noticed that the alignment seems to be a bit off now, and will get a 4 wheel alignment done... Can a different load rating on one corner affect the handling/tracking at normal speeds?

I should add that the tyre pattern/diameter/side wall profile etc. all seem to be the same- that is the tyre LOOKS identical to all the others but I assume the radial construction/compund is different with the new one?

If you are worried, why not get the other side changed to the same tyre and put that one on the spare or something (or keep it for later/sell on eBay/sell here).
