Hi Guys,
Joined the forum a few months ago as I bought a new 2007 Passat V6 4Motion DSG with bi-xenons and the 18” wheel/sports suspension pack. My Wife and I are so incredibly happy with it we have brought forward the replacement of her Corolla from next year to now. And you guessed it, we’re replacing it with a Golf GTI. So far I have been quoted $46,500 for a 2007 GTI, Red, 5-dr, DSG with Parking Sensors, Bi-xenons and Bluetooth, this figure also includes the on road costs. How does that sound? I’m looking to put a deposit down by the end of this week but am not sure the price is the best as I understand there is a worldwide price draw down on the Mk V Golf given the Mk VI launch for 2008. Any comments?

sounds like a great deal with the leather too. The price I have been given is meant to be a 'mates rate'. Think I'll have a chat with the dealer today, 'mate to mate'.

Also, can anyone confirm that all the right hand drive 5 door GTIs are made in South Africa? I told one of the dealers that I want a German made GTI and he said only the 3 door versions with right hand drive are made in Germany.

That's correct. Australian delivered 5dr GTIs are made in South Africa, the 3drs come from Wolfsburg. You can tell by the last letter in the VIN, 5drs have "U", 3drs have "W".

Well guys I did it. Put a deposit down on a new build 5 door GTI with leather, DSG, bi-xenon, parking seonsors and Bluetooth. Should be here about Oktoberfest time. All this for $49,000 drive away. Not overly impressed with the deal, given what others on this forum have had to say, but it was the best I could get after contacting several dealers. Can't wait. Nor can my new V6 Passat who will now have a little brother to talk to in the garage at night about all the BMWs he dragged off that day.

seems like i won't be going ahead with the purchase after all... boss offered me a gti company car or a nice payrise... common sense prevailed in the end.
