Hi Ozi! Im in Adelaide at the moment. The spec im looking at is GTI DSG 5 door leather, sunroof and the sensible choice in colour for h2O challenged Australia..BLACK.Was tinkering with the idea of bi zenons ,but after coming face to face with them on the road ..i find them blinding.
Congrats on your new beast, glad you dont have to go through the pain of the "Big Wait" 1 month of sleepless nights aeint bad.
Like to here about your impressions of the car once you take the helm.

Lol at the Black option... we have a black car and it's nigh impossible to keep clean. It really shows off dirt.

My combo is the 5 door GTI with DSG and leather... red! Sunroof would have been nice, but I left it off. Price was just under 47K.

True about the lights, only good for people in the car, not the other way round.

I'm going to be pretty busy so the wait won't be as torturous, then again, till it's actually in the garage I won't rest easy.

I'd have to say the test drive was pretty impressive, the ESP is simply amazing, the car is quick but cruises nicely. The tire spin and axle tramp wasn't so good though (all in the learning curve). Only so much you can tell on a test drive though.

Hope your search goes well, sounds like you're seeking a nice ride.

Yeah, black is always the hardest colour to keep clean. If you are keen enough to be washing and polishing all the time it will look great.

Thanks Ozgriff! I may have to do a rethink on colour...Because of an accident at a biological research facility i inherited the genes of a sloth!
So the idea of washing it all the time might be pushing it.
Then again if i stay in the car ill never notice..I definitely wont see the bonnet...kinda weird that.....

                Colour

Ive just stepped out of a dark blue (nearly black) car I washed that sucker every saturday of its life with me. I chose my new Golf in United grey....Phew what a relief...even the paint might last longer without all the rubbing......I can easily put all that rubbing action into more enjoyable tasks!!!! Bazz

That United grey is an excellent colour, damn shame not available on the gti in AUS.I can only hope German technology gets to the stage where tiny nano bots constantly crawl over the car eating dirt..and maybe the owner as well
Great car Babee j! Even greater price....47 + 2500 does that make it 49000?
or was it all up at 47?Sounds like your "grinning time"is almost upon you.White with tinted windows looks way cool! Roll on July!!!

Good, that means you still have time to cancel the paint protection order. You'd get better value by giving me the money and me LMAO at you ... and that is the honest truth!

Hmmm thats an interesting option........I suppose the real question is how accurate are these sales people.....or in mathematical parlance is the accuracy of the information Inversely proportional to the cost of the car?
Or lastly, should i get out more?

That's at least three UG GTIs that I've seen.

To be fair to you, it's very likely that they are, currently at least, the only 3 UG GTIs in Australia. Anecdotal eveidence suggests if you push hard enough you could get VW to source UG in GTI spec, but I'm not aware of anyone carrying through on that suggestion.
