  • Golf GTI or R32 owners help please

    Hey guys,

    After enjoying the Polo GTI I'm thinking of changing our second car to a Golf. Now I'm trying to decide between a Golf GTI or R32 and was wondeirng if any Sydney owners around the Padstow/Bankstown area could spare some time for me tomorrow morning or aftersoon so that I could have a look, checkout the features, check the fit (I'm a pretty big guy), etc.

    I'd be chasing a;
    5dr GTI DSG w/ leather. Sunroof would be nice, but I'm worried about the fit.
    or
    5dr/3dr R32 manual.

    I have a GTI (for sale here, $33990 neg with just 25000kms) and a Subaru Liberty 3.0RB wagon. I'm a big guy. There is more room in the GTI than in the Liberty, in headroom and width. Seats in he GTI are better,more supportive. Steering wheel is nice in both but the flat bottom in the GTI is a bit special. If you can live with a manual tranny (its a great gearbox with lower maintenance costs and significantly less risk of requiring a $10000 replacement cost one day) I'd be happy to show you ours to try on for size. Alternatively I have a mate selling his 3 door R32 which is a mighty fine example for $42500 here.

      Thank you for the reply KWICKS. I can't do much during the week, but I will keep them in mind for the coming weekend. Both look like very nice cars, unfortunately if I'm going to go the GTi I'd really like a sunroof. I'll keep the R32 in mind though, as that would be the colour I was after as well and don't often see them with the cream leather.

        Must admit I've never understood why so many of the cars we see have black (or close to it) leather interiors. My R32 is also blue with latte leather, and it looks good and is no harder to clean than any other colour.

          I've just been over to Burwin VW, and they've got a blue 5 door R32 (56,000 kms, MY0, in their yard. Looked very tidy.
