Just had a call from one of our EOS customers - looks like it applies to the EOS 2.0T as well (well some of them anyway!)

Yep, I got the same letter for my 06 Jetta TFSI with DSG. I'll book in to get it done and then back to Guy to redo the APR.

Did the recall today, but only drove home - nothing noticeable, but I was never chipped.

Maybe OP thought it was for GTI only not aware that it could be particular software design

It appears to be for all the 2litre turbos.
Mine goes in at 1 today, getting the golf GT while they do it.
I will post on results later, though I will have to do a reflash this arvo, time permitting! (and internet problems allowing!!!)
              Cheers, Andrew

Yep! Be able to report back on my thoughts.
I have heard a couple of dissapointing things on them, but will keep my mind clear.

                    Recall

All car makers these days do programme updates from time to time, just the same as anything running electronics gets periodical updates. What about Windows computer updates they come thru regularly. Its purly an update its not like them retuning the performance or anything. & all car makers do this on services. Thats why to maintain your car in top running order you MUST get dealer serviced!!! ....Bazz ...&.. (No I dont work for VW,Iam retired!)

Well, had my GTi done this afternoon and it took them about an hour. I get on well with the dealer here and they lent me a Golf GT with DSG. Great car, went well and has the great Mk5 chassis.
As for the warranty, everything went without a hiccup and I reflashed it this afternoon.
                      Cheers, Andrew

so guys,,lets just clarify something with this update...
Tinys problem with his oettinger chip was because of this VW software problem..?? right??

Wish there was someone in WA switched on like this. Local VW dealer hadn't even heard of LC until IU asked, then he went out and tested an R32. You'd think these guys would know it existed. I took mine for a run down country on the weekend, and while cruising at 110 it had a slight hesitation...

did the oettinger guys know that it was a VW software problem??

andrew,,,compared to the tdi?? how did the gt go??

Not sure GPK whether anyone knew VW had the problem.
They talk down the recall thing saying its just to stop a bogus code from coming up but last night, with my car after reflashing it. WOW! Huge difference!
Much better power delivery, heaps more torque and revs out better. No, it wasnt a cool night either, bout 16 degrees on the way home.
                          Cheers, Andrew

There's info on the recalls (same as here / US & Germany) :

Speaking to Oettinger last night, Germany is having to reflash all cars as well

"The software version of the is specific to the particular control module part number. These are the current software versions for the 2.0T FSI engines sold in the US, keep in mind that there are different ECU part number and software versions for the rest of the world and non-listed models/brands (i.e. Audi A6 (4F) and Skoda Octavia (1Z)).
