Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

ahh yes, the law requires to ONLY use the electronic leveler while driving... but there are programs you can get that allows you to play with it while driving... you just cant be stupid and do it infront of the police... obviously...but after the novelty or air ride is worn off... its just smooth sailing and worth every cent! its just the best walking away from your car and turning back and seeing it stupidly slammed tucking all 4 wheels! knowing your not going to drive it like that! hahahaha

my 2cents if you have the cash and low is your goal, it's airbags all the way.
You can go pretty cheap if you just get good air struts (bagyard) and all analog management system, there is a analog switch you can by that sets you car to ride height for you automatically when you turn then key without needing a digital system.

but coils will be your cheapest easiest way out, I don't think you can go wrong with either just don't skimp if ride quality is an issue.

also don't think you can just put bags or coils on a car and get a stance like the examples shown, you have to gets you offsets just perfect, probably need frame notches, rolled arches and camber adjusted just right to get your car like that

And how do bagged cars handle?

I agree with Whubbsie, its all good to be able to go low, but the same issue of clearances and maybe gutting some of the guard areas is required either way to go really low.

I think you should be able to get some decent coilovers from the US? I'd think that $1500 landed and another $400 to fit would give you a good drop with better handling, but I don't know the market for your car.

they handle the way you want them to, the supreme series from bagyard have bilstein sport shocks with adjustable damper and rebound, custom length bodies, so all you do is set it accordingly and go!

also 2 types of air ride, 2 way systems (4 valves) and 4 way systems (8 valves)
basically: 2 valves per wheel- 1x air in and 1x air out for the 8 valve unit
4 valve is 1x air in and 1 air out PER front/ back of the car

generally, under huuge bodyroll 4 valve systems tend to move air from one side of the car to the other, creating bodyroll

most people use 8 valves so each wheel is individually pumped up and no air passes through to the other side......
just remember that this is under really heavy steering, i.e drifting and circuit racing ect...

also if you REALLY care about handling so much, get coilovers
a few people who have been in my car might tell you how it drives

Change of plans... air bags will have to go on hold for now. Dont have the finances to go airbags at the moment and with a leaking drivers shock, i thought id take the opportunity and get coilovers for now.

None the less, airbags are still on the drawing board!
