    • Clicking noise

I went for a drive tonight (wife in town so I borrowed her car ) but noticed a clicking noise like an electric switch/contact noise in quick succession and then would stop. I think it is coming from the drivers side foot well/wheel arch but hard to tell.
Also, not sure if it is associated, but there is a smell of diesel exhaust that comes into the car at about the same time as that noise.

      Any ideas anyone?

      • Hatch Rattle

I have a 2007 GTi DSG-been very happy with it until recently at 9000k discovered a rattle from the hatch between 20-50km/hr
I took it to the dealer who after a test drive and inspection informed me it was a malaligned hatch and it would have to go to the panel beaters to have it removed and then refitted.
Is this a common problem with the Golf and would the repair be worse than the problem to the car.
Oh incidentally I also get the intermittent red led showing
        Thanks-I would appreciate any replies

As for rattle for the hatch I am not sure.... but if you look at the begging of this thread you will find an answer fro your LED light. I made a post.
Basically they needed to replace central locking module and took 2 go at it. Now it works fine

          • Leaky door seals

I would be glad to read anyone's thoughts on the source of similar leaks in a relatively new car. The rubber in the door seal looks in good condition, so it's a bit of a mystery.
2007 GTI both rear door seals leak at the bottom. The door alignment on both sides looks good as do both door seals.Had the door seals replaced, and yet still they both leak. Not very happy bout water getting into a new car, maybe GTI doors shrink in the rain

            • Rns 510

My niece has found that if she tries to play a dvd on the new RNS 510 Sat Nav it comes up with an error saying the dvd is the wrong region.

Anyone having a similar problem or know if there is an easy fix rather than sitting around a dealer?

This appears to be a problem with the 510's and apparrantly not even the dealers know how to change the region coding of the unit.
They are currently set to region 0 & 2 i believe.
Just make a backup of your dvd and remove the region coding in the process until the coding is figured out.

Have you seen in the NAV or Radio controllers (VAGCOM/VCDS) that you can see the region setting if you look under the values tab (left hand side of the screen - can't think of exact name).

You can't change it but there must be some way to do this, why they didn't just have it all regions has got me stuffed.

                  • Leaves and small twigs getting trapped in bodywork.

For whatever reason all the leaves and debris that lands on the rear windscreen gets trapped behind the rear bumper next to the tail lights, I didn't think it was much of a problem initially but it's seriously corrected a lot of leaves in there and each time I push on it I can hear the leaves and small twigs in there crackling away, should I take it back to the dealer to get it fixed up and all the leaves taken out of it?

                    • Well after 3 weeks she is going in for her 1000km check and to have the following addressed

                      - Rattle from back right hand passenger door
                      - Sunroof blind rattles when its pushed back to open - does this happen to anyone else?
                      - Brakes are squeeky. Assume from wearing them in and accumulating brake dust, but they can clean them
                      - Drivers side electric window - as it is is about 3/4 down it makes a strange noise, like it might be rubbin on something.

                      Havent discovered anything else yet

With the sunroof issue, are you talking about teh wind deflector that raises up when open? Mine vibrates like crazy. If you hold it still with your hand there is no vibration and all is sweet. Going to talk about it with by stealer in a few days. Also when I turn the sunroof knob the other way (so the rear of the sunrooif raises I get rattles coming from the arear near where the knob for the sunroof is .. annoying .. so its never in this position now!

I haven't played with all the sunroof settings yet to see 'when it does' and 'when it doesn't' rattle but what i have noticed so far is as follows

When the sunroof is tilted open eg. raised up (not sliding open) and i push the blind all the way back, then it sounds like the blind is rattling. When the blind is only half opened i don't hear the rattle.

As much as i love sunroofs, all 3 of my last cars with them seem to have rattles associated with the sunroof....quite possible never again

Will let you know after the stealers visit Tue

                          Cheers

                          • 1 Week On

                            Hi Guys,

One week into owning my new Golf GTI DSG. Love the Car, But.

After the first night drive, I noticed a 3 inch oil puddle underneath (engine)

Annoying cabin rattle on the driver side when I drive on Forshaw Drive by Sydney Airport (had that in my volvo too, tough road)

and, the other morning, I had to drive with the seat belt ding alarm all the way to work (damn, I am wearing the seat belt!!). Hasn't come back again.

Have informed the dealership, and the service dept will book WhiteRabbit in for a check up.

Otherwise what a great car, made my mate who drives a '08 325i scream like
a little girl in the passenger seat (and that was just launch control).

Will keep you up to date.

check the oil drain plug on the sump is tightened properly.

and with the seatbelt ding... did you have anything sitting on the passenger seat? (groceries, books etc) this can fool the car into thinking that someone is sitting in the passenger seat and that they need their seatbelt done up.

I noticed prior posts referring to them maybe needing tightening-how does this show up as I am wondering if the rattle I get from the rear is due to this-dealer hasnt been able to fix it to date
