      = Golf R

That's the logical answer if you want to spend that much.

Has lag and the extra weight from AWD, at least the R32 didn't have lag.

Retuning it helps with the lag and the with the extra 40-50kw I don't think the weight would matter (but the R32 is too heavy and can't get much power out of it).

I've test driven the new Golf R (in Singapore) and it doesn't have lag or if it did, it was so little it was not noticeble. I tested it both in Drive and Sport modes.

It must be different to the Pirelli and S3 then?

Still less lag than a WRX i take it.

                Golf R makes 350 NM at 2500rpm

                R32 makes 320 NM at 2500rpm

You can basically say that lag does not exist in these engines, dont know where you get your info from.

The power delivery is different, N/A doesn't have ant lag.

DSG has a bit of lag too.

Bigger turbo usually means more lag. That's why twin turbo or twin scroll is better like the BMW engines.

Yes the power delivery is very different, one is NA the other is turbo, one is inline four the other is a narrow V6.

What does torque have to do with lag? Have you driven an S3 or pirelli?

Boost doesnt always build instantaneously on a turbo charged car so if you were cruising at 2500RPM with little throttle and then decided to tramp it the NA car could potentially be more responsive.

Most people refer to lag when they are expressing the hole of no torque in the bottom range of rpm which is what I was refering to, however I am off the mark if the remark of "lag" was refering to how long it takes the compressor to spool up when the rpm is within the compressors efficency range.
My main point was lag is very short in these things.
And yes I have driven 2 Pirelli's and have owned and modified 5 turbocharged cars champ.

Agree 100% you cant beat the response of an NA. And let me correct myself before I get crucified!!!! Yes there is LAG but it is stuff all... what maybe a tenth of a seccond or two.
As the comment was first mentioned, I would not consider the LAG being a major con when there is minimal lag compared to say an Evo, WRX or even an R26.

Turbo Lag vs N/A is relevant, and since pirelli share the same engine as S3/Golf R so is that.
