Nothing, all the Pirellis that were shipped to Australia were built roughly around the same time frame, only difference is when they were complied

Yeah, I dunno if you'd call them MY08 or MY09... They were a one off run, made (as far as I can find out) between September and Nov/Early Dec 08.

Most landed in aus in 09, so I'd say the vast majority are complied as 09's.

They certainly will all have build dates of 2008 however. I was told that the Pirellis were the very last of the Mk5s that rolled down the line in Wolfsburg before they shut down production before christmas and the subsequent retooling of the line for Mk6's in very early Jan 09.

There is no difference. All pirellis were the same, other than options of course.

500 landed in Aus. I've got an email from VW that breaks down the number of 3dr/5drs and their colours too.. Somewhere....

I have to check again but I think mine is an Aug 08 build, MY09 compliance.

              oh ok, doesn't really matter...

I thought it was 400... damn if it was 500, i feel less special... i've actually haven't seen another pirelli in Sydney so far... strange, there are so many Golfs around, i always try to see if it is a pirelli lol I have driven one before i bought mine at a dealer last year, but that was it, probably more likely i didn't notice them before.

Yeah mate you might be about right.. The only thing I know for (semi) sure is that the last ones were built in Nov/Dec 08. I don't know when the first ones landed in Aus, but I'd be surprised if there are many (if any) complied 08's.

I think the worldwide figure was around 3000, but I don't have confirmation of that....

I'll dig up that email (its at work) that breaks down the numbers. You might be right, it may have been 400....

They are far from being 'rare', but give it a few years and truly good ones will start to be very hard to find. Cars are rarely investments and I don't think the pirelli will be any different - but it should hold it's value extremely well compared to Mk5 GTIs. They're as common as XD falcons I'm afraid.

Rare is a extremely overused word.

Adds at least 20kw. All you need is one of those and a carbonio and you'll make some fully sick horsepower bro.

                            OI! I have one!

                            Check this:

It added about 9kW at the wheels. I did this mod before I even filled up my car for the first time!

No Idea, but 3,222 produced worldwide, 400 came to Australia. Yellow was the rarest colour.
