Most landed in aus in 09, so I'd say the vast majority are complied as 09's.
They certainly will all have build dates of 2008 however. I was told that the Pirellis were the very last of the Mk5s that rolled down the line in Wolfsburg before they shut down production before christmas and the subsequent retooling of the line for Mk6's in very early Jan 09.

I thought it was 400... damn if it was 500, i feel less special... i've actually haven't seen another pirelli in Sydney so far... strange, there are so many Golfs around, i always try to see if it is a pirelli lol I have driven one before i bought mine at a dealer last year, but that was it, probably more likely i didn't notice them before.

I'll dig up that email (its at work) that breaks down the numbers. You might be right, it may have been 400....
They are far from being 'rare', but give it a few years and truly good ones will start to be very hard to find. Cars are rarely investments and I don't think the pirelli will be any different - but it should hold it's value extremely well compared to Mk5 GTIs. They're as common as XD falcons I'm afraid.
Rare is a extremely overused word.Last edited by kryten2001; 19-03-2010, 11:08 PM.
