if you wanted a fuel miser, get a diesel (which you can thrash all day and the WORST economy i've ever gotten is 7.2L/100km )

just enjoy the dam thing!

I know if i had a GTI or a R32 I'd get getting stupid economy figures, but I wouldn't care!

The money is not a problem, i was just curious what the car is suppose to do for fuel economy... it does say 8.2l/100km on the brouchure... and also surprised at how much the car eats fuel thats all.

How about you measure the economy properly and then tell us what you get.

1 Fill tank up. reset trip meter
2.Drive car
3. Next fill: fill tank up. Take note of litres used and kms on the trip meter.

wow ok i have the 09 r32 but i still havnt hit over 400km form a tank, the cars only done km so far on the clock.

maybe because im just having to much fun with it but like u guys said dont worry about it and just drive and have fun

NEDC figures for the GTI Pirelli are 11.3 l/100km, 6.3 l/100km and 8.2 l/100km for urban, extra urban and combined respectively.

City folk often make the mistake of using the combined figure as a baseline, when really, they should be looking at the urban figure.

Just did... i did 350km on the tripKM, fuel up 49.8l... so thats 14.2l/100km...

very true, i'm having fun, it is just using more fuel than expected... my 135i does around 13l/100km, driving the same way, to the same places, but it has a 3l twin turbo! oh well like most has said it is only a few dollars here and there.

That is true as well... anyways this next tank i'm going to drive like a nanny and see how i go.


Oh top though... the moment i fuel up the tank, it says i have 410km... which would work out as 13l/100km anyway... BUT does that reading go off past history of the car?

Mate if you wanna see a car that 'eats fuel like crazy' try out a Mazda CX9.

I'm lucky, and I mean REAL lucky, to get 20ltr/100kays on that sucker around town. More like 22-24.

These golfs are dirt cheap believe me!

I wouldn't worry about those advertised figures. Apparently 6.2 ltr HSV's get 13ltr/100kays.. Yeah right!

I constantly get around 6.0-6.6 on my cruise into work. I use the term cruise as its a single lane road most of the way and it flows reasonably well, thoguh never at the speed limit.

On the Highway between Canberra & Sydney I'll get 7.2ish

You're probably gonna think I'm lying, but I get about 650km out of my tank with my below mods. I drive about 50% freeway, 40% suburbs, and 10% stop/start in HEAVY traffic. I give a good squirt every now and then too.

well you would expect that from a big car... my desmo does like 10l/100km, and it has a 14l fuel tank, so basically on a weekend ride, i probably have to fuel up twice just for a few hours of fun lol

I have also noticed why my fuel consumption is so high, because i go through like 20 speed bumps a day, accelerate and brake... traffic is not to bad, because you don't accelerate.

that is extremely good, do mods make it eat even more fuel??

because if i get mods done and it does eat more fuel, i will only get 300km out of a tank lol

If you want more KW it's gonna take more fuel! Nothing comes for free.

But drive normally and I highly doubt you'll see much difference.

I had mind tuned at 800kays, so I never had the opportunity to give it a comparison... Then again I don't expect good fuel consumption coz I'm generally always on it.

All city driving. I don't use highways at all.

I work during the day so I sit in traffic from 8.00. It took me 25 minutes to get to somewhere that can take 6 minutes without traffic.

I have changed my exhaust, if you do a full exhaust upgrade you will see a huge improvement in fuel economy.
