Hi all, the dealer sent me the brochure today and quoting from it.

"Eligibility to apply for Volkswagen Used Vehicle Extended Warranty Insurance is dependant
on the age of the vehicle and the number of kilometres registered on the vehicles odometer.

    36 month or 60,000km Warranty
You can only apply for this warranty if the vehicle:
    – is no more than 10 years old at the date you buy it, and
    – has an odometer of less than 150,000 kilometres at the date you buy it, and
    – is distributed by Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daihatsu, Daewoo, Ford, Holden, Honda
Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Musso, Nissan, Proton, Skoda, Subaru,
    Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo."

Its underwritten by Allianz and has the endorsement of VW Australia.

    Finally get my car tomorrow.

I did buy the turbo petrol jetta and picked it up today. I am amazed by the stability of this car and the way it shoots through roundabouts. Acceleration is a hoot !

I did get to the bottom of the extended warranty...apparently the dealer was giving me the VW used vehicle extended warranty which has cap limits of $2000 per item - not a lot of use if you have a major engine or gearbox repair.

So I got my leasing company to organise a full factory extended warranty with no cap limits. It wasnt cheap but I'm fully covered now. Thankful to all on this forum as it made me aware and I looked into the warranty carefully.

I had a 2005 V6 Magna TW series II which ran only on LPG. Have to give thumbs up to this car, whilst not in the jetta's class for anything, it was bulletproof and cheap to maintain and run.

I was seriously looking at a Citroen C5. I joined a forum on french cars and most of the posts were about bizarre problems people had rather than how good the cars are - that put me off!

Driving Jetta again today, so impressed with the balance and agility.

Sorry, only after I posted my post, did I see that you had a Magna.

Yes,the Jetta really is in a diffirent league, although the Magnas were reliable, cheap to run,and very bland...lol.

The Citroen C5 was a bit of a lemon,my cousin had one with endless problems, and recently bought a new TDI Jetta, which he is far happier with.

So I think you did the right thing, and bought the right car...
