Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

what do you guys think of this deal...?

2008 golf gti pirelli... advertised as "demo/new" on carsales... but a Mazda dealer down at the ACT... it has 8242km on it, which is not too bad, but just a bit suspicious about the demo/new part, considering it is a slavan mazda down in Canberra... the price is $39990... is this a good deal or not??

other on car sales for a pirelli has been $42k-46k for a 10000-30000km

I'm really tempted, as it is a mazda dealer so hopefully i can negotiate a good trade in price, and if i can some how negotiate 3-4k down on the sale price it would be amazing.

Not bad, and you can retro fit options like SatNav, but the dealer will charge you ~$4k to supply and fit a new RNS-510, makes a Garmin for $400 look like awesome value...

got a call from slavan mazda, nice bloke and pretty straight up... he said a guy traded in... so its not "demo/new" and he said they paid $35k for the car... and not willing to meet my trade in value... i guess i have to continue looking as the difference is still a bit too big for my budget unless i sell mine privately, but it was good to get a straight answer salesman.

Geez... whoever got $35k for their Pirelli with those Ks should've sold it privately! lol..

Anyhow - looks like a good deal to me if you're happy with 3 doors and silver ... but yeah, might have to sell your MX5 first if they're not will to do a deal to your liking. I can understand their position - they'll sell the pirelli fairly easily at that price I imagine.

Agreed - someone blew cashola big time. Can't imagine why someone would dump an 8k old Pirelli to buy a Mazda either??? Must have got his woman pregnant with triplets and had to buy a CX7 or 9..

I'd be surprised if it lasted long at $40g

Well according to the salesman that called me today, he said the guy is a serial new car buyer, he just buys new cars every 12-18 months.

On the car, i don't mind 3 doors actually i probably prefer it, as i think it looks better, the colour might be a small issue, as i probably wanted a black or the vw blue. But if the deal is good i guess i can look past the colour.

Well on the phone he said, the lowest they can go is $39k which is 1k off the price.

But yeah have to sell 1st, got a few enquiries but no serious buyers yet, if i get 30-31k, i would have no problems in terms of money getting that car, it would actually be well within the budget, but not with 14k difference though.

Still a little skeptic about like what gerhard said, why would someone blow that amount of cash, he lost 13-15k in just a bit over a year.

and yeah i doubt it would last long though, but the dealer said it would be "hard" to sell which i don't get why... maybe canberra is that small lol

The salesman was quite colourful with his language as well which was funny, he bascially said he doesn't like wankers who try to lowball him... which i didn't do this morning... he used alot of swear words as well, which is surprising.

Oh yeah I remember now, I went out of my mind because the car is in Brisbane and I have to sell mine first, but yeah that's a good price but it's an auction and can't really look at the product, no pre purchase inspection etc

plus it is closer to 32k as there is a premium of 5.5%
