Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Sydney Pirelli (K04) GTI dyno comparison day

    From this thread:

In the interests of some vehicle comparisons we are trying to run a handful of vehicles from VW & Audi equipped with different modifications - same day, same dyno.

Looking for Pirelli GTI's with different modifications (and a stock, baseline car as well.)

    Suggested Day: Saturday 23rd January

Place: MAINLINE AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT PTY LTD
Factory 3, 35 Violet St Revesby NSW 2212

We can only handle about 8 - 10 cars total for the day.

    Purpose:

Collect lots of information on the vehicles, multiple runs, Heat Soak tests, dataplots at specific RPM, torque comparisons, EGT projection.

This is not a marketing exercise, it is for the owners benefit to understand the inner workings of the vehicles.

The people who run the cars make the dyno & software & are the best / unbiased people in the business.

    Potentials to date:

1: Jackal (Larry) TTS / APR / Pump / Downpipe
    2: Robby Jai S3 REVO
    3: Macca (Len) S3 APR / Pump
    4: Timbo (Tim) S3 GIAC
    5: MikenBn S3 Stage 3
    6: kwayzivietnamese S3 Unitronic
7: Vagabond S3 stock control car
    8: Billecartz TTS stage 1

    Reserved spots

    Sloth, Audinut

Please register your interest & comment on dates etc......

Looking at that list, Jackal is in the right spot.
So who is running the book? I've got FIVE DOLLARS to wager.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results - Robby posted this over on golfmkv too.

I'm in with a Pirelli (bluefin)

Was hoping to go there this week for stock and stage 1 runs.

By next week will have 3" TBE and stage 2 flash

          Let me know.

              Guy,

I can provide a standard Pirelli which I am looking at getting chipped, so if you want you can use my car as standard base, then we can chip it on the day and re test the same car new software.

You don't reckon MikenBn with a Stage 3 tune will be the one to beat?

^ oh crap I didn't see that... haha was looking for hardware!

but hang on - what does a stage 3 on a k04 entail?
2+ is what id say the TTS has on it.
I was under the impression stage 3 was a new turbo, which wouldn't be a valid comparison.

                      Paolob, CC75,

we would like you to come along if possible (different mods - better spread of results) Please confirm with us if possible.

                      Cost will be $100

I think we have a standard car for baseline, but if we dont, George, yours will be perfect.

What time on the Sat 23rd? I'm in if after lunch.

Also I am going tmrw for stock and stage 1 flash dyno runs, on the same dyno machine, and requested all settings will be the same for next weeks dyno run. You may want to have a chat with Todd to gather any details/parameters if you need.

                        Cheers

Any time, We will fit the cars in as they arrive, first in first served.

We have a dozen cars to run.

$100 is cheap for the time you will get on the dyno & the data out of it.

Any other GIAC Pirelli's coming along?

Good News paolob, The price has been reduced to $60 per car, and two other golf owners have offered to help subsidise your runs if its too expensive.

A bargain you can't pass up!

We really want some differently tuned Pirelli's there.
