After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. It's basically K04s 2.0 TFSI's in various stages of tune/pipe/pump development

Intake temps for 98 run were around 46-48
Intake temps for 104 run were 50-52

Big thanks to Derek, Guy and Todd for their efforts. They're pretty crap conditions to be working in. Much appreciated and I hope you've collected some good data.

I had some 104 in my boot. I bought the fuel with me to the Oct 09 dyno day, but the file hadn't downloaded to my ECU. I just needed to check that the 104 setting was in postition 3 of my ECU remap. First time I'd actually run it.

I wasn't sure how perfect my mix ratios were on the fuel, so I may have over compensated a little. I used VCDS to check my fuel level, got it down to 4ltrs, added somewhere around 5 litres to be safe, and then top it off with another 15ltrs of the perfectly pre-mixed stuff I'd prepared back in October.

A 1:1 mix of Martini Super Turbo 1400 with 98 should see it at around 104.5 RON. I thought I'd better over do it, than under do it, not sure what the knock on effects of that were, but 'dyno-but' said it was fine.

Running quite a lot of boost. Will wait to see what the proper numbers for the day were.

as a reference- a high afr is running to lean, and a low afr is running to rich?
whats ideal for a stage1-2 gti?
what are the problems with running too high/low?
if too rich, would increasing air flow (say via a freer flowing intake) correct it, and give more hp?

                  cheers

You managed 9 HP more than a standard according to the APR website on 93 Ron fuel

                      Good day interesting results.

Was a last minute scramble to get up to sydney leaving friday night.

Results out of all the K04 cars.

1st Place Tony with Mk5 GTI with K04 GIAC and Normal 98 RON Fuel Got 200.4 KW ATW

2nd Place Jim A3 with K04 and Giac 196KW also on normal 98 RON Fuel

3rd Went to Jonc running K04 APR and Race 109 RON Fuel with 195.6Kw.

We should be able to get a little more from Tony's car in near future.

We had 2 different runs with tony's car, one with a hi torque program both are on the dyno sheet attached.

                      Vids

                      GTI07 200KW run

                      Jims A3 K04 196KW run

                        Corrected fuel spec.

They're great numbers for an off the shelf kit vs the cost of an engine rebuild, forged rods & pistons, new custom piston rings, new bigend bearings with a custom made GIAC tune.

You'd be dreaming to think there was little difference between this and a stage 1. Be it APR, GIAC Bluefin or otherwise.

Corrected on the fuel spec, but still 104 has gains over 98 RON pump fuel.

We do quite a few extra custom tunes, usually only around a extra $300.

Forged Rods & pistons are a fair amount heavier than stock units and generally you loose power with them, they are put in for strength and reliability.
as tony is intending to go for a larger turbo down the track when he saves is money up.

For stock engine running normal 98 RON, look at jims A3, he still got =196kw
                          on a stock engine.

                            Kudos

Kudos to Jim for such a nice sleeper. 196kw at all four with an A3 badge is amazing! you wouldn't want to think twice at the lights.

What I find interesting is the differences in where the peak power is:

                              Absolutely. No argument there.

                                Read my post again.

                                2 different runs

we switched programs from normal tune to a high torque one.

so if you look at dyno sheet there are 2 plots on it.
