Speaking of tyre pressure, what should my GTI normally be at? I couldn't find where it says what the recommended psi should be. I have it at 34 and my fuel consumption seems a bit high. I average around 10.5L from Mon - Fri through 2 hours of traffic to and from work each day with 2 people in the car.08 Black GTI DSG | Leather | Sunroof | Tinted | Heated Seats | Bluetooth Kit | Ipod Connectivity | Bi-Xenons |

I don't mean to be a prick, but if you want more power and less fuel use then the 2.0FSI is the wrong car for you.
philthy is right, the most effective way to achieve your goal is to get another car. A Mk6 118TSI or used Mk5 GTI / 2.0 TDI would be good places to start.
Granted Canberra traffic is a lighter than Syd traffic but over the last 18 months or so our GTI's average consumption is 8.9l/100km.

You would be better off running a premium fuel in the car (98 octane - BP ultimate) and you should see an improvement. The extra cost is only $135 a year but you should be able to save double that from increased mileage assuming that you're not running decent fuel already.
As G-Rig said make sure you have the tyres inflated above the recommended comfort levels.website: www.my-gti.com

I'd get a 1.4TSI if you're worried about getting the best economy.
