This problem seems to happen to quite a few DSG cars, but as you found, not often and not consistently. I was reading today in the US Car and Driver magazine (March 2010 issue) about the long term test Jetta TDI they had.Originally posted by yowie View Post..... Sometimes, but couldn't replicate it just now, the thing dies usually mid-intersection and the only remedy is to totally take your foot off and start again.
So we tend to just not rely on a quick getaway. Is this what we are all talking about? If so, the next car will be manual.
It doesn't take much imagination to see this total loss of drive causing an accident where people are seriously hurt or even killed, then maybe VW will look at the issue and fixing it for all cars in all markets (ie including Australia). I just hope that VW find a proper solution and impliment it sooner rather than later..... John Phillips did experience the car's complete refusal to move when the Jetta acted as though it had slipped itself into neutral. "Turnng against oncoming traffic, the Jetta refused to move. Full throttle and zero movement; happened twice....If this were my car, I'd sell it."
Volkswagen issued a [USA wide] recall for a group of DSG-equipped cars that experienced problems exactly like the one described by our Mr Phillips. But according to VW, our Jetta was not among the afflicted cars.2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
