It does actually have Bluetooth right? Mine's got the button on the steering wheel but no such feature.

Also for the maps, I'd say you have to buy a new disc from VW?

Bluetooth gets installed as an accessory, Do a search for bluetooth devices on your phone and see what you get. if you see these then you'll know bluetooth is installed. Parrot? Ego talk? or if you're lucky Nokia, This is one of the latest kits available. what version nav disc do you have 14?

          Hi reddog,

Do you know the model number of the Sat Nav?
Is it an RNS510 or perhaps an MFD2? Touchscreen?

If you have a picture of it I'll be able to tell straight away.

As far as Bluetooth, if you do a bluetooth search/discover on your phone it should come up with an entry saying "Parrot Kit" or "Carkit" etc. In which case you have bluetooth installed.

If not, it means you don't have the necessary module/bluetooth accessory installed. As mentioned, the phone button is included on the Multi Function steering wheel but not all cars have bluetooth as stock. Its an optional extra.

I just got off the phone to VW, they quoted $1400 for the latest update map for the RNS-510! Have they just blatantly turned to crime now?

Has anyone sourced one from whereis?

                He he...it's rude isn't it...

This is actually a point that I raised recently with VW Aus. They have to buy the disks from VW Germany, who buy the map data from Whereis. They assure me that there markup is not large, and the the price from VW in Germany is the killer. Unfortunately you have no choice either...

The Whereis map data is in the same format on the BMW nav DVDs apparently, and there are some out there who have (so I am told) bought the BMW disc and copied the data from it to a new format that works with the VW systems, but it's not an easy process I don't believe.

I was quoted $500 today from Solitare service. Still a rip off.

That's either a disc for the RNS 510 that they didn't give to a customer when they delivered their car (and a nice $500 profit) or they quoted you on the old satnav disc which is around that price.

And there you have it folks. People wondered why VW won't give them the NavDisc with the factory/dealer installed RNS510.

Because they know someone will get an RNS from Europe etc, and will want the maps.

                      Profit.

It's just the update map disk. Ordering a couple of new Passats and wanted to find out what the updates are worth.

My quote from Solitaire was $1400! Are you serious?

These people are idiots! Seriously! 3 weeks ago they quoted me $4500 to retro fit the rns-510, today they quoted me $3600 fitted with the new maps! But $1400 for just the maps. I don't think there is any consistency down there.

I just bought a RNS-510 from the uk for $950 delivered. Hopefully i can get my hands on a disc.

New delivery car, with RNS and no map, equals no delivery.
