4wd can still axle tramp like a mofo. I could bore you with pictures of my subaru's snapped front axles to illustrate.

Axle tramp can happen to anyone.. it is just where the grip on either side of the car is uneven which causes the tyre which has grip to load up more, then slip as it has more power going to it, then it grips again, then it slips again as it loads up more. THUDA THUDA THUDA axle tramp.

My BIG suggestion is NEVER RIDE AXLE TRAMP OUT! always back off a bit or you too can be coming home on a trailer at 3am and have your neighbours know once and for all that your a massive hoon.

Somehow that sounds very much like the authentic "voice of experience"

Below is what happens when you just "RIDE OUT AXLE TRAMP"

and before idiots comment on the fact the car is on a trailer during the day, this was a different axle snapping incident from a morning car cruise. Was gently moving off from traffic and it just snapped...

subies are renowned for weak g/boxes and driveshafts tho.. reason why you buy an evo instead.. have there actually been many cases in mkv's? The shafts on our cars look pretty beefy.

                ah well coilovers next..
How about the handling then, any noticable improvements there?

ACtually amongst the subaru community there are guys who can do an axle change in under 20 minutes. I called one of those gnomes up and paid him a $50.

Then I handed him the spare 6 speed axles that came with the 6 speed gearbox I bought and replaced the broken 5 speed axles. hehee

Jap cars are hella cheap to repair... same job on golf would be hundreds In fact a subaru axle can be got for as little as $100.

Just for the record, I recently put the whiteline anti lift kit and front bushes in, and it's an absolute mongrel of a job with a trolley jack and the home workshop. I'd highly recommend you get this done by a professional, as I'm sure the new neighbours thought I had Torrets by the time I finally got them all in. Sure pushed my patience!
