There never has been a six cylinder GTI and I doubt there ever will be!

Imo chipping a GTI is not a wise thing to do, as my stock GTI will get a wheel spin and the most and biggest issue the car is bouncing when i accidentally step the accelerator pedal a little. And another annoying thing is when the car is not on the boost (somehow) and you are trying to overtake it has basically no power, until you hit somewhere in 2500 rpm, then u get massive wheel spin. None of this happen in my R, is just feel much comfortable and more predictable (for lazy people like me)

Heaps of people live with chipped GTI's everyday without those problems. Try putting some decent rubber on the car for a start and learning not to mash the pedal from standstill. A $99 TAI helps out a lot with the hopping you can get under some circumstances.

No sure I understand your claim about no power down low as the GTI has heaps of power throughout the range,it's the Pirellis and other's with large turbos that suffer from lag. Like everything however you adapt and learn that you need to press the pedal a little sooner.

Sounds like your problems with the GTI are all behind the wheel and not the car itself! Try adapting to the GTI and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

Maybe its a dsg lag, but I felt it. I have Bridgestone RE001 Potenza. did not help either

are you sure about that?!? i thought you could get a six cylinder GTI? I saw a GTI once in the UK and it had a V6 badge on it.

Wasn't that known officially as the Golf VR6? The Golf GTI was 4 cylinder and the Golf VR6 was 6 cylinder and it picked up the name of VR6-GTI or GTI-VR6 from owners/media??? The VR6 had a higher spec than the GTI I thought.

I am just having you on. Think most on the forum have the power of deduction and realise that the quote from Hans was referring to a V6 golf and not a GTI. Cut the guy some slack mav, he's getting old and deserves more respect given he's their test driver!
