can RCD500 direct replace RCD300?

hi all, just quick question. can rcd500 direct plug and play on 05 golf?my rcd300 is broke and just need to find one that can direct replace. any other model can fit too. thanks

it's my understanding that you can replace the same series radios with each other.

ie: RCD300=>RCD500 should be ok
RCD310=>RCD510 should work.

where you have difficulties is with RCD300=>RCD510

i have my old RCD300 unit if it's any good to you ?
i don't need it any more.

any of the RCD's should fit without a issue. I swapped a RCD500 with a 310 for the MP3.

I've got my RCD 500 here for sale if your interested.... 6 stack but no mp3

of course the units will physically fit, but as you should be aware, swapping from an older unit to the newer ones CAN lead to the battery drain issue.

that's why i said stick to the same series unit and it should be ok.

In regards to fitment, take note of what car it's going into, and conversly, what car it came from.

Transporter/Multivan and Touareg have a different mounting setup to Polo/Caddy/Golf/Passat/Tiguan/Jetta/Scirrocco.
