  • What brakes disks/rotors and pads would you recommend for 08 GT sport diesel?

    Howdy folks -
Have 2008 Golf mk5 GT Sport Diesel.
Need to change the front brakes, rotors (disks) and pads
    I believe they are 312mm rotor/disks?

Mechanic said they don't use DBA, Bendix or Bosch because they don't like them...
That they prefer ATE, Textar or M-tech

I don't know more than a mechanic but what would you recommend and where to get?

I can do this job myself so keen on all your thoughts.

Ive used DBA, Bendix, Bosch, Bremtec and Brembo over the years on various cars and had no issue with any of them. I have used ATE pads and they are good, but not their disks. Have not used Textas or M-Tech, although Textar are fitted to quite a few cars from the factory.

Although my preference is Brembo as they are well priced (currently on sale on Automotive Superstore) and they have dark grey painted hubs so they look attractive and dont rust.

Front disk size is 312mm on your car.

These are the Brembo disks for your car: https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/...ilterVid=10332

    A cheaper alternative, TRW: https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/...ilterVid=10332

These are the matching Brembo ceramic pads. These ceramic pads are excellent and produce basically no brake dust. https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/...ilterVid=10332

Note with brake pads, always a good idea to check the schematic of the brake pad shape with your car before buying as many cars can have several options. But I believe these are the right ones for a 2.0TDI GT Sport.
