  • 75,000 km Service Today

    Hi All,

I quick note about the jetta's 75,000 km service today.

Total cost $290.70 at the friendly Volkswagen dealer where the vehicle was purchased and service since new.

Note the it is a fully maintained lease so maybe that is why the cost seems low and friendly service.

This included the 75k service ($152 labour), rotate and balance all 4 tyres (no charge), a once over to check everything before it goes out of warranty on 27th Oct (no charge) and a check of the strange clicking noises behind the dash (no charge). It included a wash and a vacc too! And I made it home before the wet weather hit so at least it will stay clean for a few hours if only overnight before the commute to work tomorow.

They indicated that the noises behind the dash were a little more pronouned than normal however the aircon is operating as it should. Their advice was that if it should get louder than they would be prepared to fix under warranty and would need the car for a few days to do so. At this stage turning the stereo up a bit drowns out the noises from the aircon.

I'm still running on the original rotors and pads too!

Cheers and happy motoring to you all.

      Thanks for the report!

This little Jetta will have to have a service sometime.
I bought the car a little over a month ago from a VW dealership in western Sydney and I recall reading somewhere that VW servicing is required for the extended warranty (which kicks in within a few months).

My only question is whether there is much variation in standard service costs between dealers in Sydney. A new 'VW Commercial' dealer opened up my street this week, but I doubt they would count as a VW service centre.

I think you'll get up to 100k on your rotors. Nice work that the pads are going the distance, too.

Are you referring to the Autohuas at Thornleigh,
I noticed a big VW sign go up last week.
They do sell a lot of commercial VW's and lately a lot of secound hand passats have arrived.

          Hi Bizi,

I certainly hope too! The front pads look like they have about 7mm of friction material remaining and the rears have about 5mm. Compared to some on the the forum I must opussy foot a bit

realise i am bringing this thread back from the dead (sorry). But i just got a call from my wife that the 75,000km service she dropped the GTI in for has come up at $620 + $89 for the fuel line flush, plus they wanted $89 for the rotating of the wheels...

i dont know, but this is sounding rather excessive to me.. and no, this doesnt include anything else to the car... just the normal service.

Depends on what the service involved. You need to get them to itemise what they did for the money.

$89 for a fuel line flush - that's a dealer offered thing so I have no idea if it is needed or not.

$89 for rotate (and balance?) seems OTT. Good places will do it for free (rotate only). You'd be looking at 0.4 for the rotate plus balance would be $10 max per rim.

Don't be afraid to question the prices in a reasonable manner after the event but in the future, alwats get a price estimate first as the dealers seem to make it up as the go along - mine does (Wakelings Campbelltown).

Good advice, and generally i would. This time i ended up going to a recommended dealer for service. I did ask when i booked it in for a rough costing on service and was told it wasn't possible without seeing the car.

What eventuated was my wife dropped the car off and then got told the costs. I dont mind the fuel line flush, it seems a reasonable offering and i can actually see the value. The rotation seemed excessive, but we said we didnt want to take up the option. The concern i really have is the cost of the underlying service. I was just curious what everyone else was paying?

Thats a great price. My services are around the $350 mark in Vic...the 60,000k service was about $1200 which came as a bit of a shock. The dealer had given me a 10% discount card when I bought the car which helps a bit. Whats the deal with the aircon noise ? Is it the motors driving the air flaps when you turn it on?

So are those $350 services basically an oil and filter change plus the usual checks with wheel rotation and maybe wash and vacuum? And what was done at 60,000km for $1200?

$350 would be an Inspection Service inc Oil & Filter, fluid top-up & a few visual checks.
60,000 probably included the timing belt if the car was at 4 years as well.

How much labour time is in that $350 service? It seems incredibly expensive to me. I haven't had the first service on our new 90TSI yet but I hope an oil/filter change and inspection service isn't that much. The services will be done at the same dealer and workshop as our Forester gets, where an full synthetic oil/filter change with inspection, wheel rotate and wash is $206 - they charge 1 hour labour at $99 for that. I'm wondering if they'll do the same labour charge for the VW.

Just over an hour IIRC. $110/hour plus oil $90 plus filter $30 plus sump plug $3 plus workshop $15 plus enviro $10 plus GST

                          Yes, it's a rip.

Just posted in one of threads I raised, but my 75000Km service was $265.00 including brake fluid replacement at Autobahn.
