I'm tempted to try the Adrenalins at that price but in my experience the high performance Bridgestones don't last.
I have a set of 225/60 R15 RE001's Bridgestones (AU made) and done 14000k's on them, still waiting for them to show tread loss, better than the goodyears and conti's i've had before - they disappeared fast with my style of driving...
Oh, and I love the re001's, so stable, grippy, tight, excellent braking... go buy 'em
The Goodyear Asymmetrics are quite dear, so I ended up fitting Falken FK452s to the GTI (about $180 each, by memory). Very happy with them, masses of grip, excellent in the wet, and good wearing as well.
I paid about $1300 all up for 4 new 17" F1 Asymmetrics including fitting and wheel alignment when they last had the 4 for 3 offer a few months ago from Goodyear in St Kilda East. They also include a wheel rotation every 10k.
There's no way you could get them for that price retail, they're around $400 each and even with the 4 for 3 deal you're looking at around $1300 for the four.
Tirerack have currently got the F1 Asymmetrics 225/45/17 on special for US$143/ea!!!
add some freight, import duty and GST@ todays exchange rate, youre probably looking at a landed cost of circa $1,100 for four tyres and even cheaper for bigger orders.

Just allow a bit extra for local fitting
Best to buy them in two separate shipments 1-2 weeks apart.
Freight for two tyres is ~USD$180 and for four tyres ~USD$250.
Duty and GST doesn't kick in until value of goods are AUD$1,000
If the value is getting close to AUD$1000 it's cheaper to pay the small additional shipping charge than risk being hit for a brokerage charge, gst, duty etc. He had a figure in there of around $1100 (which is probably not correct) which is why I mentioned that.
check with a shipping/customs agent, but i'm quite sure that the threshold of $1000 doesnt include freight, only the export value of the goods themselves.
only if you exceed the $1k threshold do they then add freight value to determine how much duty and GSt is payable
