I have 3 stone chips in our windscreen and I want one to crack but for over 2 years they have just sat there like stars in the screen. I too paid the $45 (?$25) for windscreen replacement protection but the bugger won't go. I WANT A NEW SCREEN!

Sorry to hear that mate.
Don't feel too bad though, I copped one last time I was on the Kings Highway going down to Canberra. This silly old fart in a falcon was driving near the middle of the road (where they were doing roadworks) and I copped a big stone on the left hand side of the windscreen.
Luckily I've got windscreen cover included in my insurance. Its well worth the extra money. I had it replaced within 2-3 days of it happening. They replaced it with a genuine VW windscreen. Make sure they order the genuine one, and get them to ensure the rain sensing part isn't affected either by the replacement either.

My brother had a tiny chip right in his field of vision, though he didn't think it would seem convincing enough for his 'free' windscreen replacement though his insurance company. However...
Boiling water/ice/boiling water/ice and again, again, again!

Originally posted by VWGTi View PostI'm with AAMI, and like yours, no excess as long as I only make 1 claim a year - anyway, rang them today, they were quite good abt it... got my car booked in tomorrow morning for replacement. They are aware that it's the rain-sensing type, so hopefully they've ordered the right part in. Will be testing it out for sure!! Besides, AAMI have a full lifetime warranty on their repairs. The AAMI lifetime warranty is absolutely useless, the quality of work from AAMI is low and if you want a decent repair go to another insurance company. There have been a number of GTI's (Mark V) written off because of the poor repairs from AAMI repairers. The last one was earlier this year and the process was over a 5 month period with a car that was so poorly repaired every panel had defects.
Good luck with the repair, hopefully it will all go well.website: www.my-gti.com

If I have another cracked windscreen I probably will though. I'm with nrma, I think the policy is one free windscreen per year. Don't quote me on that though I haven't read the policy completely...lol

OK, got the windscreen replaced, but the idiots placed my wipers wrong so had to go back to get fixed, and they wrecked the clip for the rear-view mirror and only sticky taped it back on!! ARRGHHH
Guess all the comments about AAMI repairers is all too true!!
