After you've done a few hundred, a torque wrench becomes a formality.

Yep, someone is trying it on.

The last set of NGK Iridiums I bought for the Cab in '07 were $12.50 each from

I suggested that you be wary of counterfeit ngk products purchased over the internet so there's no need to get nasty about it. It's an ongoing problem especially from the UK and those considering it might want to do their homework first.

For the first time I will thank Mav for highlighting the counterfeit NGK spark plug issue. I didn't know this was happening, and is definatly something to look out for.
I stil think $45ea for spark plugs sans labour is extremely excessive. My suggestion next time is to but them from a reputable dealer of your choice, then supply them to the VW servicer when you have your car serviced, like some people do with oil to avoid the excessive costs of workshop supplied consumable products.

My dad went and got them from his local car place, he knows them well so no probs with fakes.

Also Iridiums can be purchased from supercheap for $21.75 each as of last week.

                  60k major service advice

hey my 2005 mk5 fsi is due for a 60k major service (cars only done just over 45k) and was just wondering what the rest of you had done in your major service. prefer not to service with the dealers to save some money (but quotes i'm getting from workshops and the dealer seem to be quite similar between 1000 and 1200) so want to make sure everythings done correctly. just moved to sydney so will give one of the recommended workshops on here a go. also roughly how much did it cost you guys? appreciate your help.
