(the how-to was for a MK4 and the MK5 Aero Wiper on the drivers side is a little longer I believe).

Purchase 2 x wiper blade inserts from a reputable VW dealer in SE Melbourne today.
Cost $16.94 ea inc GST

Genuine VW part no. is 1K0955429A and includes a new end clip so if you damage the clip getting it off you have a replacement new one.
The German printing has 'Wischgummi 1 Stueck' for the translators out there.
The package has an expiry date of 2012/01 and package date 12.01.09 so three years life!
Made in Belgium.
Also has the Audi, Skoda, VW and SEAT symbols printed on the label. (if I new how to use the wife's camera I'd try and send a pic).
It's nice to have clear view again!
And PS the instructions on the thread are very good,

I have just changed mine, but I bought Aunge type rubber refill.
What I noticed is difference at the top of the blade. VW refill has wide top, while Aunge has a narrow one. I hope they won't slip out.
And yes I believe VW are charging way too much for front and rear.
Plastic ends were a little bit difficult to take off but not much. While the shorter blade went on fine without any problems, longer one has given a lot resistance, probably because of it's length. It kept on slipping out numerous time... The further I went up , more she came out.
But at the end I prevailed.
Haven't tested yet, just cleaned my car, but I will tomorrow morning when I wipe off dust collected overnight.
Edit 20.10.2009
Wipers tested... Work like new and rubber stays inside.. $4.50....
Edit 27.10.09
After a hot day today wiper inserts are coming out..... Looks like it is time for Tridon onesLast edited by acdcfan; 27-10-2009, 07:24 PM.GOLF V 2.0 TDI COMFORTLINE

A word of warning for the diy'ers.
I bought a Daihatsu years ago (...desperate times), and noticed an arc on the drivers side of the front windscreen which had been polished out... mostly. I dont know how they managed to get a rwc for it.
Anyway, I ended up having to replace the screen for a rwc, which was good as it was so distracting. The arc was caused by the previous owner replacing the front blades with some that were slightly narrower. End result was the wiper arm clip worked loose from the blade and must have been scraping back and forth across the windscreen for quite a while before they actually did anything about it. The fix was pretty agricultural, crush the carrier together over the wiper rubber...
In no way i am i recommending paying the crazy price for a workshop replacement, just be very careful with replacement wiper blades! if it isnt identical in profile, i wouldnt use it.MY07 R32, black, DSG, 3dr, sunroof

Yes there is the cheaper option of just rubbers with new end cap but is not NOT listed for most models hence why they are quoting you a whole aero blade. if they were smart they would keep this part in mind when quoting wipers as it generally suits most models.

I don't see how $100 is a rip off for 3 oem wiper blades. I would happily pay that for piece of mind in knowing I have the best possible wiper blades for my car. It's 33 per blade, hardly worth wasting a Saturday morning at superchip autoMKV GTI
