  • ECU Performance Flash

    Hi!

I am interested in getting my ECU programmed with a performance flash re-tune.

Could those in Melbourne chime in with location and pricing? as I was quoted by Volkspower $2000 for an Oetinger (SP?) flash.

    Cheers.

Speak to Logzy on here. He's the local dealer for chippeduk ST3. I flash tuned my TDI with ST3 and am happy with it. Bluefin is another alternate, both are around the $800 mark.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

Has your economy improved when driving normally?

i got 900k from 50 litres of diesel last time i filled up. So economy hasn't really changed dramatically.

GIAC have a special on at the minute. The current price for the 2.0 TDI is $896 and the upgrade can be performed at a couple of dealers at around melbourne. I think the closest one to frankston would be in clayton.

I got a bluefin in mine - cost me about $900.
To be honest its not worth any more than that - all I get is more wheelspin which doesn't make the car any faster really. Sure theres a slight improvement but not worth the sort of $$ for the Oettinger. Dont believe the crap about better fuel consumption , my fuel economy is worse - about 0.8l/100km worse.

It's your driving that's the problem not the extra power, there are plenty of much more powerful Golfs out there that are drivable and much faster

Sorry Mr Schumacher. Maybe I'm not as good as you.

Its not the extra power thats the problem, its the extra torque - I have over 400Nm now which in a front wheel drive with narrow street tyres and no LSD translates to wheels spin. The car when stock was already at its limit of adhesion so the extra torque really doesn't do it any favours, at least in the first two gears.

BTW - What Golf out there has more torque?

                          400 NM!!!! R U SERZZ???
I really would prefer looking at 350nm ish in a front wheel. I know oettinger has a software setup for for that.. not sure with other companies.

How did you manage to get 400 nm of torque. With the Bluefin tune quoted figures are around 330-40 nm which seems to be at the lower end of the torque figures compared to the other major tuners.

As Mav said, it is your driving style that is restricting your ability to put the power down. Of course if you smash the pedal instead of dialing in power gradually you will get wheel spin. Try a different driving style and see how you go.

It's a tractor....sorry did not realise...hence the mountain of torque
