        R32 with AAMI with $595 excess - $619pa.

FWIW, I checked with youi, and to my great disappointment, it was more than $800.

No prizes for guessing who I went with in the end...

PS: 37 yrs old, rating 1.

yeah... insurance companies love over 40s and under 65s.. To the insurers, these are the 'cash cows.'

I believe shopping for insurance based on price only is false economy (bit like hookers! haha).

If you care for you car (and if you're reading this, you most likely are), get a decent insurance company that will let you choose your own repairer.

I have 2 cars incl. the GTI with Shannons, Shannons was cheapest for my older car and a more expensive for the GTI compared to other cars.

But I know if I am involved in an accident, my fault or otherwise, I can choose my own repairer.

If you've ever had to make a claim with AAMI, you'll know the benefits of choosing your own repairer.

FYI- Melb 30yo M, $900 for the GTI.

RACV & Shannons get my recommendations if you care for your car. If you don't then by all means shop around.

x2. I have insured with Shannon's for 10 years and never had a problem with them. Only one quote for repairer and free windscreen replacement whenever there is a chip on the screen that is in the "bull's eye" field of vision.

Good to hear mate I just hope that you don't have to pay excess for the windscreen renewal. I did and it outweighed the cost of a new windscreen..
