Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Which one?? I know of at least 3 tuning companies that have a Representative of their product on this site.

bah! this lag is giving me the shizens.
everybody who reflashed their pirelli get an improvement on the lag? still happy with the flash?
mine has done 2 tanks 900km worth, feels like it wants to do a bog before it gets up and runs. could be crap vortex 98? (it was the only thing around when the tank went dry).

I'm in the same situation too actually (2 tanks, 900km) with my Pirelli so I will be keen to see some responses regarding this issue My car is also being driven by my wife who isn't used to having a powerful car as her daily car is Hyundai Getz but drives my car on the weekend as it has a much bigger boot. I'm still a bit skeptical on getting a tune which gives 229kw/400nm as it might be dangerous who isn't expecting that from a car?

^ i dunno, i've never experience that kind of power in front wheeler yet. But owning the mk5 gti stock with 147kw and 280nm, i still get wheel spins 60km below at low gear (with good tyres).. Maybe do a trial before purchase?

shouldnt be an issue bwen, its still optional how hard you choose to press the go pedal. my wife's daily drive is a 385KW monster and she's managed to avoid crashing it so far

                  Lag ???

You should try to drive some other turbo 4 cylinder cars.

My previous cars were 2 WRX's........both modified........you should see lag there

My feeling is that lag on take-off is more due to DSG than engine/turbo itself.

Try Launch control dude, that should get a bit of spool on your turbo, and should drop the DSG quicker into gear

Launch Control or perhaps a DSG flash.

.....won't help if the lag is in the DSG, not the engine coming on boost.

Thought he meant engine lag.. Is it more the hesitation with DSG? Jig has a HAC throttle controller on his and thinks it helps.

Sounds more like DSG initial acceleration hesitation than turbo-coming-on-boost lag to me (I also noticed quite pronounced takeoff hesitation on the Pirelli I test drove).
