Do you have any tips on where I can get a good set of trim removal tools?

there is a tool for doing the rear break pads. turns and pushes the pistion so you can fit pads in easily.

found these pliers to be very good quality (to german engineerinng standards TÜV, din and GS) and reasonablly priced found them at jaycar. had them about 7 years now.

if you get a floor jack get on that will be low enough to fit under if you ever decide to lower it.

when buying a test light or circut tester get an led one. the current draw is minimal and less likely to upset expensive parts if you not sure wat you are doing.

finally vagcom buy it or get close into bed with somone that has it. worthwile diagnostic tool and interface with car

OEMPL.US has a few cool tools, but probably a bit expensive.

A race jack would be good so it fits under low cars..

I get heaps of use out of the following

- Supercheap auto LED torch with telescopic magnet built in.
- Torx alum key set.
- M8-M12 Set (for undoing seatbelt bolts etc)
- Soldering iron (cuts plastic very well)
- Dremel (for making things out of bunnings bins)
- Extra large can of HTFU
- and WD40 to spray forum members with to stop their whining.

Great tool for quick tests and finding wires with signals. Has inbuilt LED light for work under the dash or in dark areas.
Might be a bit pricey for some.

forgot to mention a good/accurate torque wrench
also socket breaker bar or a piece of pipe to fit the handle and act as an extention for better leverage.

Just off the topic for a sec (well it's not that far off lol) how expensive/good are the Stahlwille tools? I'm getting the $800 govt' grant for tools soon and I want to get decent tools but won't be able to afford THE BEST so I'm looking around for something in the middle.

one of the better brands money can buy but with $800 you might not be able to afford a full functioning kit.

you may be better to select a few quality peices and build yur kit up from that. i believe that screwdrivers and some other bits and peice tools are not always the best things to fork out heeps of cash. easily lost , people borrow and they get stuffed. where as a a quality torque wrench is worth its weight and a good one will last a lifetime.

Sidchrome is good, also consider Kincrome spanners especially long series CrMo they're stronger than CrV. Minimax is also good quality.
