  • Attention 1.4 TSI GT owners! --------!!

I had my 15k service and I am sure that the dealer reflashed ECU without telling me. The supercharger engages with the slightest touch of the pedal now and there is no engagement lag anymore.

My scanguage 2 was all muddled when I started car after picking it up, which indicates that the outputs on the ecu were changed around so that signals were different to what was there before.

Car feels a lot stronger and I have flashing traction control during whole of first gear at medium throttle.

So I would suggest going to dealer for next service if you don't normally, there may be a silent ecu fix going in! ! !

    Car is definitely faster.

Yes, there was a new software for most cars at the start of April, I have driven my mates GT with it installed and also got mine done last week when it was in. Made a good difference to the car and actually increased my economy too. all a bonus.

Will the dealers just do it if you ask them to? I get my car serviced elsewhere b/c I don't like them bending me over financially.

You sure it wasn't just due to a battery disconnect? Resets the car to have to re-learn, and my TDI was definately quicker and more fun to drive after the 15k service, but settled back down to normal. Felt like it was on roids on picking it up.

Hope it lasts for you ladies.

I just rang my dealer and they said there was an outstanding campaign for fuel sender switches but no upgrades.

Maybe it was the battery disconnect.

What year build are your GTs? Mine is Nov 07 build, 08 spec.

I just phoned Hornsby to speak to the service guys, the receptionist said they were REALLY busy and could she take a message; I mentioned I had seen something on the web about an ECU software upgrade for the TSI and she interupted with 'Oh, ok, I'll have them call you' in that 'I've heard this 10 times today already' kind of way.

              I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE - service guy phoned back, there is something for the DSG to 'fix transmission problems', but nothing otherwise. FWIW.

+1, that's an old trick if your car feels too slow you can disconnect the battery, leave it for 5 minutes, reconnect it then go and fang it. Learns your driving habits faster.

After you open the drivers door, see if there's a silver sticker indicating there was an ECU upgrade. I have one for the 24M3 campaign.

I think the sticker was around the front part of the door somewhere

Why don't you just pick up the phone and ring the dealer, then you'll know if you're imagining the performance improvement or not.

Every car feels different after coming back from a dealer service, you have fresh oil, ECU settings have been reset, the seat is adjusted differently and so on.

My car ran a 9.9 quarter with that flash new oil and the seat way back. Must have been 507, as I only managed high 10's on 504.00.

C'mon Mav, an odd post from the master of "facts".

                        ^ That's not bad.

Perhaps the dealer took the spare tyre out and some sound proofing.

I dont think that battery was D/C because my radio was fully programmed and I did not lose any of the finer settings in the head unit either...which I normally lose if battery is D/C.

All I can say is that something has definitely been changed. It's just driving totally differently. Gear shift points are higher too and don't seem to be dropping down lower even when I cruise slowly.
