  • Boost issue - potential causes?

    Hi Folks

I'm having some issues with boost lately. I have APR stage 1 and when things were running well I would hit 20 psi +/- 1psi and it would taper off to around 15 under wot.

Lately I'm lucky if I can hit 10 psi.

Today I visited my local workshop (Volkspower) and had the new psiton type D diverted valve (the type G I had from a previous leak was still in tact ) and we also installed and the BSH PCV fix....still not fixed. They also ran a VAGCOM and got no errors reported. The car is still revving hard but not the kick in the pants feel it should have.

I also have a newsouth gauge so can monitor the boost in different gears. Is it possible the connection between the gauge fitting and the boost line could cause the issue ?

...trying to work out what it is - I'm no mechanic so need all the help i can get.

...basically he car feels way underpowered to what it has been when everything was working as it should. I'd like to think it was just me getting used to all the TFSi power but it isn't.

I'll be fitting the APR RSC TBE (acronym city) and HPFP soon but wanted to sort this out first.

Thanks in anticipation of some wisdom

    Dragon,

Do you have access to Vag Com? - I am interested if its throwing an "underboost" code or not.

Also this will be handy to have if we need to do any data logs.

      Hi Guy

Thanks for the quick reply. Brett said he ran a vag com but I didn't see it. I don't know of any other vagcoms's around but have not looked very hard.

I'm due for a dealer service next week - would it be worth asking them to check?

I'm a bit nervous about putting the extra gear on I ordered through Dean / you guys until I know what the issue is.

How would I know if it was underboost?

      cheers
      Mike

Need to get it scanned - it will throw an "underboost" code (unable to reach requested boost) - it could be a leak in any of a dozen places, but need the fault code to start work from there.

Give the Volkspower boys a call - does not take long to scan!

Also boost gauge connections are notorious for loosing boost - double / triple check that as well.
