  • I am thinking of getting the extended warranty as it expires in March 2012 on my MKV GTI, what have people been paying so I have an idea?

The car will also be sold next year, would a extended VW warranty attract car buyers or would it be a waste of money??

If it expires before you sell the car, the new owner could still take it out. So it would be a waste for you to do so if you are going to sell it before the original warranty expires IMO.

The warranty will be expired when the car is sold. Warranty expires in March 2012, car will be sold around August 2012.

In that case, I would take it out before it expires. It will help in selling the car.

            • I just got an extended warranty from Chatswood Classic cars - $1439.80 was the price for a golf 118 TSI DSG. This is an excellent saving compared to the others which was around $2600. My most sincere thanks for the person/s who negotiated this price and told others of this deal. As suggested, I emailed Rashid and I was contacted by David at the firm.

I was told by Kim at SCC that the extended warranty is not transferable. Can someone confirm or deny?

I'd suggest you read the Product Disclosure Statement supplied with your quote. It would be foolish to sign up for any type of financial product without being aware of & understanding the terms & conditions.

If, during the period of insurance, you privately sell your vehicle to a person other than a

                    • I'm a newbie - first post this morning in the new members area.

I've discovered that the 2008 2.0TDi DSG GT Sport I'm looking at was first registered on April 3, 2008, so it's 2 days out of new car warranty. Does anyone think I have a chance of getting the new car extended warranty for this car - I'll call the dealer here to see what he has to say, but anyone else have any suggestions about what I should do?

Call Rashid - you will find his contact details further up the thread. I don't think it will be an issue.

                        • Thanks for that triode12 - I called the local dealer and they said no dice... but that was before I read your response. Called Rashid, he was in a meeting and so a fellow named Amit took my details and rang Allianz on my behalf, they have said that if I supply them with all the details they need, they will assess my request on the basis of the history of the car. Not a guarantee that they'll play ball, but better than nothing at this stage. I live on the mid-north coast, but if the guys at Chatswood go to this trouble, it would be my pleasure to go to them for service...

                          Keep you posted...

If you can't get the extended factory warranty you'll be able to get the used car warranty. All is not lost.

Not as good as the new car warranty though. If it's been serviced at VW regularly for it's life you probably won't have issues. Rashid or Nathan should be able to help you out.

                              • Thanks all for your input. Still waiting, car rego was first done on April 4 2008, and I spoke to Amit on the 5th, and David Haddo yesterday (Amit was elsewhere, and Rashid was on his day off) but my request is in the system somehere I'm sure. They seem very keen to help, so I'll keep you posted.

The car is a private sale, so should I not be lucky enough to swing the VW full extended warranty, will I still be eligible for the used car warranty? It has been book serviced by VW dealers since new (last one at 60k in Coffs where the car lives), and has full history available. I confirmed my purchase of it yesterday anyway, can't wait!
