Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty

A newer more expensive VW branded product- Volkswagen New Vehicle extended warranty (also underwritten by Allianz Australia) but with a 2 year unlimited km maximum and this one uses genuine parts only.
If it matters, be careful that you get the one you actually want.
The documentation on the 2 year unlimited km is all VW branded... vs the older one where the PDS was all Allianz branded. I also wondered why the old PDS did not even mention VW anywhere? Do they use the same PDS for all their new car warranty clients?

i'll be sending rob an email then
so i'm going to do a bit of research myself, but have i got this right, with the new changes:
VW branded - offers 2 years/unlimited kms
Allianz (not VW branded) - offers 3 years/60 kms?
when i spoke to Barloworld about extended warranty last time i was in there they said that if you bring the car in for a repair under (extended) warranty they run it through their systems like normal and then claim it through to Allianz.
Which sounded great, because it means they fix your car first then deal with the insurer themselves.
Does this apply with this new Allianz (not VW branded) 3yr extended warranty product as well?
I don't want to get a warranty which needs to go through the hassle of going to Allianz FIRST for approval/permission to fix then my car gets fixed.

What I also like is you don't have to take it to a VW dealer for repairs. I can go to any registered mechanic! They also use genuine VW parts for the repairs too.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

guys just wondering when to get the extended warranty
do you wait until the current one almost finish before contacting vw dealer or after its finish or doesn't matter even though you have 1 year left like in my case.
do you need to be serviced by vw dealer all the time? or independent like vw village is ok
thanks

Hi guys....The reason I'm buying the warranty mainly for the DSG transmission and the 3.6V6...
Which one is more suitable for me? Are there any non VW parts for engine and trans?
I'm only drove 17K over last two and half years......
So the two years unlimited warranty is really not as good as the old deal.
Please help me out with this.....

So is that the case for both the 2 year and 3 year product?
cos what the guy at Barloworld was saying was that the extended warranty acted just like the original warranty (or at least the old product must have). So you as the customer don't even deal with Allianz. VW take care of all that AFTER they fix your car.
So is this new variant of the extended warranty the same thing?
Anyone know?
cheers
