VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty

FJSteve, thanks for your advice. I am purchasing this car privately and have asked the owner to confirm if it is still covered by warranty.

It is currently being checked over by my mechanic before it all gies ahead anyway.

Also, I did ring the 1300 number in the pds, and they said I should be able to purchase the extension even though I am not the original owner. So I guess that's a win

Just have to work out now if I want to fork out the money.

Sorry Pom...I didn't realise that it was a private purchase.

As for value for money...if it's a DSG box, I would definitely be getting the extended warranty.

the VW used warranty has a $2K limit on repairs.

Had a call from my dealer and email offer to extend my warranty for another 3 years, as its coming to its end.
Because I'm a valued customer they are prepared to offer me a 10% discount on the initial offer of $1980.00
I referred them to this forum thread with link attachment and asked them to try harder with matching of bettering
the offers.
Still waiting for a reply two weeks later.

Neil,
There is no geograpic association required with the warranty.
And the general experience in this thread suggests most dealers are not keen to, um, deal.
You can buy the extended warranty anywhere.
We are in brissie and bought from Sydney (Jamil).
If you are still interested, just phone Jamil or Jazz, mention the VWwatercooled thread, and see what happens.
Waiting for a better offer. Like, sit there until someone offers you a night's free sex. It will take about the same time.

Just had a quote for the 3yr Ext Warranty from Darwin VW today for my 2008 Golf TDi GT at $1,980, done 30,000km and I have 1 yr VW to go. I mentioned saw this forum and they advised its been 1,980 for last 4yrs or so.....

Looks like I might have to call Jaz/Jamil/ACT dealer mentioned in earlier posts for more realistic quote. BTW... cant see anything about $2k limit repairs in paperwork ?

I got a free 3 year extended warranty when I bought my car 2 weeks ago. Barloword Glen Waverley had a weekend special on with either the option of 3 years free scheduled servicing or 3 years extended warranty. Whilst the servicing would be great, the resale value will be better with the warranty 'til May 2016!! Also, that dealership was about 35 mins drive from me, I'd rather use a reputable mech closer to be.

I think you will see that the $2,000 limit refers to used car warranty, which is all you can get once your new vehicle warranty expires.

So my Polo GTIs warranty is up Friday. Rang Jaz at Southern Classic but she is sick. Spoke to Kim who is very helpful and familiar with the discounted deal for forum members. $1080 for 3yrs 60,000km full VW warranty (thru Allianz). She said normal retail is $1620 which is what Highway VW in brisbane quoted me some time ago. Which I think is pretty bloody good. Waiting on a call from Jamil at Denlo.

I've only got about 4 months left on the 3 yr warranty, so I'm looking around for the extended warranty. However I'm the second owner of the car, so does that mean I can only purchase used car warranty or can I still extend the initial 3 year warranty?

Also I've been looking through the thread and only noticed prices from around last year, so I'm just wondering what the updated price for a 08 Golf GTI MK5 DSG is roughly atm in around Melbourne.

Call Jaz or Kim at Southern Classic (02 42542000). Best service I've had from anyone in ages and GREAT price. Call Kim tomorrow (Jaz has done her achillies tendon...) as she is REAL busy today..... Of course say you are on this forum. They give a FANTASTIC discount. you don't have to buy in Melbourne - shop around (I did) but I doubt you'll find anyone to match them.

Forgive my ignorance.... Does it mean that if you purchase the extended warranty from Wollongong, you can have your car services at any vw dealership and still valid?
