  • Is anyone else getting flashed

Hi Im getting sick of other drivers flashing their high beams at me, I didnt opt for the Bi-Xenon headlights. When Im due for my first service I will get them to make sure my headlights arnt pointing up further than what they are suppose to. Has anybody else had the same problem I mean its beyond the joke in a 20min trip ill get flashed about 3 or 4 times.

Never happened to me, I've noticed though that one is considerably higher than the other.. But still has never bothered anyone.

Have you adjusted them using the adjustment wheel next to the headlight switch?

No havent tried that as I thought that was used when you had a full boot but ill try it out it might get me out of trouble until I get the Jetta serviced.

If that doesn't help you might consider getting it fixed sooner rather than later- you are obviously dazzling the cr@p out of everyone in front of you if you are getting flashed that much

I've felt my lights were a little high as well (no complaints/flashes yet, though), so I drive around with the adjustments set on '1'.

Perhaps I'm affected by Jeremy Clarkson's complaints about the headlights being high. I wonder if it results from the suspension being lowered?

The bi-xenons don't come with an adjustment switch as they should be self leveling.

That said I have been flashed a few times ..... especially driving from Perth to Bendigo and back for the BUG-IN at Easter. Of an evening even the B Double trucks would often dip before me. The light coverage across the country was brilliant ... pardon the pun.

He doesn't have bi-xenons which means he has HALOGENS which have the adjustment.

                      Cat's outta the bag!

Perhaps you have to adjust them manually on the actual headlight cluster..

E.g. go to a long flat dark road and see what's best (if you're unhappy with the way they're set up)..

No need to jump, the OP said halogen but I found this comment useful. That's what I thought these threads were about?

I suggested the OP adjust his headlights as they were halogens. OvaltoJetta said that the OP headlights didn't have an adjustment as they were Bi-Xenon. I correct him and suggested that he read the first post where the OP specifically stated that he had Halogen. Nothing to get worked up over.

Isn't one supposed to be higher than the other?
the driver side is lower so not to dazzle oncomers and the passenger side is higher (and turned out more) to illuminate the kerb.

I occasionally get flashed when I have them set high. I change mine regularly depending on how well lit and how busy the area is.

OvaltoJetta was replying to your post about the adjustment, not the OP.

He correctly pointed out that Bi-xenons don't have an adjustment, which, as ChrisR32 notes, is in fact relevant information. I, for example, was not aware of that Bi-Xenons are self levelling. Chill.

Back on topic, yes check the adjustment. I also have mine set on 1 not -/0 for night driving. Yes, I think lowered suspension will make a difference as well, since the angle between your lights and the road has changed and you probably should check the lights to accommodate.

                              (And welcome back RM!)
